Topic: Two very illinformed comments heard on 5live 606

1st from a liverpool fan who says he was at the game.  Complaining that we didn't have the attacking nature to get at west brom (neglecting that west brom were very good in defence today in my opinion).  Saying we had no natural wingers playing today.  Could this be because we were playing a 4-3-1-2 formation??

2nd from a west brom fan who said that Hoult should NOT have been sent off.  That is like saying Roy Keane can work for the Samaritans.  It just ain't true.  The guy deliberatly stuck his arm out and held back Owen.

That brings me onto the next boring point of mine (been on the drink you see so I won't make sense).  It has been said before that Owen shouldn't take penalties.  And when he stood up to take it I just had THAT feeling about what was going to happen.  Fine let owen take the odd penalty but NEVER let the person who has been fouled to take the subsequent penalty.  Owen is VERY low on confidence in the scoring department, while some1 like Danny (both on and off the field) is high on confidence.  Owen is, as always, getting the chances he just needs to play it simply (although he was VERY unlucky with that fantastic save by their reserve keeper in the second half).

Seriously though..excellent game in defence again. But as for all the comments about Owen, I heard them on the way back and finished up shouting abuse at the radio. Did anyone hear some bloke slating Spud as well? I really lost my cool at that point!

It shouldn't make any difference if you have to wait 1 minute or 10 before you take a penalty.

If Owen wants the responsibility he needs to practice. When he slotting home 100 percent in practice, then he can be given a go.

Otherwise, let Murphy or Hamann take them.

I would suspect Owen said he'd take it. Hyypia is Captain and should have Houllier's wishes for who takes pens as instruction before the match. Then Sami should take charge. If it's Owen, then fine. If not, then he should pull Owen back.

Owen will get his goals. We all know that.

Besides we got 3 points. They don't award 6  for style.

They might have whinged on the radio, but at least they waited until after the match.  It seemed as though half of the stadium was baying for blood for most of the game

I thought we did brilliantly -- we have about 12 shots on goal and I will be happy any day.  Don't forget this is the same West Brom team that almost hold Man United 0-0 at Old Trafford.
