As I understand it, on the whole the UK is much cheaper for food than the US but it varies by type of food.

Of course our wages are much lower as well.

That depends on lots of things I'd  say.  The wage is a mad one to get into and we go on the average wage per household then it's a load of bollocks . Anyway if more people bought the eggs that your missus buys then surely them prices will decrease if more people bought them ?  I was going out with a French lass years ago and when she explained it all to me in her accent it made perfect sense .

To be fair, yes they are free range and bought direct from the farm and usually twice the size of what supermarkets class as 'large'.

Well there you go, you're getting top quality with the nice dark orangey-red yolks - they'll be better than the most expensive ones my wife buys.

I dread to even picture the conditions those cheap US eggs are being produced in

Has it gone to shit or is it just me? Had a wholemeal loaf the other day, was basically tasteless dough.
You started this thread entitled Warburtons.
There was no need for a thread on it's own, but just re Warburtons, I think it's one of the best for white bread - particularly the toastie loaf.
Try anything else except Robertsons extra thick and its crap.
Name any sliced brand, even M&S bread, all crap in comparison.

The Aldi Ancient Grains is well nice as normal bread goes, better than a lot of pricier supermarkets. I like the M&S Cranberry and Pecan fresh baton as something to have with a meal, delicious with loads of real butter.
