A team only looking to win set pieces and a referee only interested in awarding them.

12 free kicks in one half with only 41% possession ffs.

Feel like the ball has only been in play for 5 minutes.

Yep, going down like there's shooters in the stands & the ref is gobbling it up

Brentford are a drag to watch. They may have come up from the 4th Division which is an achievement, but they've certainly brought their football with them.

The ref is indulging them too. Their main aim it seems is to get a free kick in the Liverpool half. They hit the floor at any robust challenge and the ref blows his whistle.

Jota is some player.

Ref is fucking awful. Núñez has been great, some really good link up play from him today.

12 total touches, 5 out of 7 passes and one awful chance missed. Great?

Referee is not allowing game to flow. Brentford are playing for set pieces. We've been decent enough.

The referee's directive this season is letting small fouls go and let the game flow which okay is fair enough but it seems to never work that way when we commit those small fouls. He's literally just given Brentford everything. VAR spent almost a minute ffs looking over one the most obvious offsides you'll ever see to try and find something to allow the goal.
Soccer - let's face it, its not really about a game of ball anymore is it?

Disappointing from Brentford. Throwing themselves to the ground if anyone breathes near them. The ref buying it every time too.  ::)

Embarrassing from both. We are playing ok. Some really good passing at times. Hopefully we kill them off early in the second half.

That high foot Fab yellow card foul was ridiculous, Brentford player ran into his leg from the side.

He won the ball. Caught him as yer man ran through his follow through. Honestly like. What a prick.

By the way, did you see the one long throw that went out off Robertson halfway in our half. They took the throw level with the edge of our box and no-one seemed to notice! Crazy.

I did, they got a corner from it.  It's not cheating nowadays it's "playing the game" just like the diving and face holding when nudged on the shoulder.

Was it City game at home as well as Spurs. They foul Salah for example left right and centre and let play carry on. Today every minor "foul" and he's blowing his flipping whistle. Absolute shite referee.

Don't even get me started on the Brentford offside. Was clearly offside yet took AGES.

Decent half

Not sure how Mbeumo didn't get sent off - surely Jota is clear through on goal

It would have been 2 on 1 for sure.

Played Salah in early on, played Jota in when he was cynically brought down on the halfway line. Aside from our goal they were the 2 best moves in the match.

I do not get the accidental eye poke being a foul. It will happen if someone hangs on an attack's back and the attacker shields the ball. It is crazy how many times we get called for that nonsense.

His best moment was the lively pass to Jota when he got brought down.

Chance looked a bad miss. Think it was quite a hard one to deal with as it came so straight (as good a ball as it was). Think he maybe should have gone with his left foot, but that might just be my peg leg bias.

Great goal, should be 2 up but this game is not done yet. We've given a few too many free kicks away so need to tighten up especially as we have a couple of yellows.

No, the referee has given every contact on a Brentford player a free kick.
