4-0 is incredibly cruel on the young lads. Two fluke goals and they were right up against it. Were the better team until the two quick goals. Hoever and Elliot look good prospects.
Utter lack of class from the Villa players celebrating the way they did there.

We were amazingly fantastic in the first half. If we had Brewster we could be losing the first half just 4-1. Men against boys is men against boys for a reason.

You can clearly see the difference in physicality. The more mature, older players like Chirivella have coped well, and have hardly been shrugged off the ball. Elliott is a specimen at his age. Really like the looks of Isaac C-D.

Some lovely football from the young lads. The score line reflects some bad luck and the inexperience of the side not any gulf in class. Hoever and Elliot look a decent partnership.

We should question Klopp's leadership here. It's one thing looking like a great leader and putting a youth coach in charge with a copy of "the Liverpool way" handbook. It's quite another leaving the kids behind to fend for themselves against grown men, the soft kid in school getting kicked and punched by the school bully while the grown ups look the other way

Unfair scoreline based on the game - but it's about getting it in the net.

This team with say, Milner, Origi and an adult centre back would be on top here.

Only worry is Van Den Berg, who looks massively out of his depth, considering we spent money on him and he's been training with the first team.

He's been hung out to try a bit by playing centre back against Arsenal and Villa at 17 when he's clearly not ready (the keeper as well to be honest). He's struggled at reserve level.

Hoever is a lot further ahead but it's VDB first season in England.

Van de berg looks as bad as Eliott looks good.

Remember Paletta? He went on to get capped for Italy.

Elliott and Hoever have linked up very well on the right. Elliott is going to save us a fortune as he is definitely heading for the 1st team.

We've played well, certainly don't deserve to be 4-0 down
However if something serious happens to them I will eat my own cock.

They've played really well despite the scoreline, just struggled with the pace and strength of more senior players at the back.

I've heard Kelleher is highly rated but he's looked pretty bad every time I've seen him, do youth keepers just take a long time to develop?

Dont mind the score but the heads dropping. Hope Critchley sorts them out. The scoreline is irrelevant as long as they play their socks off. There is a gulf in class but they have shown flashes of being dangerous.

Fuck me they've been good. So impressed. Real signs of team identity. Good football intelligence at times. Technique so good (long gone are the days the reserves/academy were either there because they were good footballers but bad athletes or the reverse).

Villa should count themselves lucky Larouci Williams Jones and Brewster aren't playing. Not even joking (even though we'd still ultimately lose, I think we'd score given the chances we're creating).

I wouldn't call that a worry. Most youngsters don't end up first team players, even the ones you sign from other clubs. It's just the way things are. I'd say someone looking as good as Harvey Elliott has been is the exception, not the rule.

I hope the kids don't feel shattered or anything. They should hold their heads high.
Villa - 3 attempts and 3 shots on target: Liverpool - 8 attempts and 4 shots on target.
Enough said.

They know the more melodramatic ones have more chance of being published.

Doing alright. Kids make errors at the back, and lack a cutting edge (but could have scored a couple). Everything in between is pretty good.
