The question is, is it a smart idea to do triple sessions or whatever when a different kind of training schedule had been planned for the season, when the players probably haven't had the strengthening done during the summer to handle any of this?

Maybe yes, maybe no.

We apparently haven't trained during the Christmas period due to the amount of games, just recovery sessions. We've had loads of players injured at stretches throughout this season, even before Klopp showed up or by the time his first press conference was done (Ings, Gomez, Rossiter, Henderson, Sturridge, Sakho, Flanagan, Firmino, Benteke, Lovren). It's not all down to Klopp and his methods. We've played more games than any other PL club. And it doesn't help when we are having to continue playing players due to how thin our squad has become. It's why I thought it was madness to loan out the likes of Markovic and Ilori in the summer, when clearly there would be plenty of opportunities for games.

If the Xmas thing is true, then that reduces the blame on Klopp, but he has been here since October. That includes 2 months before Xmas followed by a monstrous schedule of games over the Xmas period up to now.

So whoever's fault it is, it STILL has to be asked whether Klopp should really aim for the intensity that he wants or whether he should try to make certain compromises this first season to avoid exacerbating any inherited fitness issues in the squad.

You're just trying to come up with an answer because you're frustrated with the situation

There's no evidence Klopp's training has caused the injury crisis so how is he supposed to change it?
There were injuries when he got here - he wasn't responsible for them

Coutinho's hamstring has gone 18 minutes into a game, Lovren 33 minutes - neither will have had an intensive training session for 10 days
What do you want Klopp to do - tell them to go out and play well but...you know...save yourselves a bit in case your hammy goes?

It's a nonsense. If you want to blame something blame the culture that thinks it's important to treat 4 competitions equally from the start of the season

People blaming klopps high tempo pressing game for all the injuries, our 4 centre backs are injured, certainly wouldn't be blaming klopps tactics or playing style for them. We just didn't have the squad dept to deal with the crazy Christmas fixtures and so some players played nearly every game and that bound to take its toll and cause injuries.
Having Welbeck try and mark Pirlo is ridiculous. It's like trying to get a golden retriever to stop a tennis ball machine.Because one is a machine designed for a very specific purpose that it is peerless at, and the other is a fucking dog.

This. Add heavy winter pitches to that mix too. Too many games and not enough players, which leads to not enough rest periods, which in turn is due to too many games (we've played more games than other PL club this season) and not enough fit players.
