Nothing wrong in him valuing the treble season over 2005 for personal reasons, but objectively, most people would disagree with him. Winning a european 'b' competition, a 'b' domestic cup, and the fa cup, rather than the single most revered trophy in European club football? Hmmm

Always has been and always has been? Since 1992 maybe or I'd argue the revisionism began in 2000 with a decade-old monkey and has been getting heavier every year since.

The European Cup was always the big prize, the one that would get hearts beating, taking on the continent's finest. It's the trophy that has written our names amongst the legends, not just in Europe but across the world. Wherever you go, we are the famous Liverpool FC. You think that's because we've won 18 domestic titles? Is it fuck.

European football, and its apogee, the European Cup, was what shaped the modern Liverpool Football Club. Without competition against continental sides, no reshaping of Liverpool's style of football to a continental model. Without the European domination, no recognition of Liverpool as one of the elite sides in Europe. Liverpool Football Club's modern history can be defined by the 2 pillars of Shankly and Europe.
