I would have a Team of Gerrards every day of the week at Anfield.

Although not winning might feel 10 times as sore...
Someone should do the right thing - go back in time to 1992 and destroy the codes to Championship Manager before it is ever released

Just hope he wins a title before he retires.  Even Bryan Robson got a medal before he retired and he carried UTD's hopes through years of chasing us in the 80's.  Gerrard deserves one at least.

In a word yes.
A Great man once said...
"Football is a simple game based on the giving and taking of passes, of controlling the ball and of making yourself available to receive a pass.
It is terribly simple."

That's my hope and fear too mate. He deserves one and I'd like him to do it while he is at his peak in the middle of things. The good news is he is such an athlete he'll be around for a few more years yet even if he finds himself playing in the back four one day.

God knows how we can ever replace him?

I remember when England played Argentina in a friendly some years back, under Sven's reign as manager.
Gerrard played in 3 different positions that night. CM, RB AND LM and he excelled in all 3 positions. His understanding of the game whilst playing positions is brilliant. He gives the same commitment in every postion he plays in.

He made the winning goal from right back if I remember, with a pinpoint, 40 yard diagonal ball onto Michael Owen's head. The BBC website described it as a "speculative" pass.

Agree with the initial post in thread.........  HOWEVER....  for me
football existed before 1993 (i.e. before premier league..  football is not a sky created phenomena) - hence you should advance that Gerrard is the best complete player at least a decade (if not more) before inception of "premier" league.

An immovable object meets an unstoppable force!

Let's leave it for the Gods to decide. ;)

I was thinking of starting a separate thread about how many times we've had the best player in the world playing for us at any particular time.
I'd be interested to see what sort of list would develop - Clemence, Souness? But for me Gerrard must be up there now.

Check out Lampards face when being told Smithys (fat one from Gavin + Stacy) opinion of Gerrard at 4.37, 'He's as good as you, if not a tiny bit better'

The John Terry one is funny as fuck also,  at 6.08
