That's a qualitative observation, anyway, but yes, there are probably more travelling these days. There were stuill plenty who travelled then, though - pay on the gate meant that coaches were run from all over, not just through the ISC. I used to have a 300-mile round trip then, which I could just afford if I saved my school bus fares and walked to school. These days it's 400.
Anyway, the issues of the parking and transport links were addressed by the Anfield Plus plan. And don't forget there is no guarantee of improved transport, no matter how well you plan it. Look at the Millennium Stadium for example - slap bang next to a mainline rail terminus, but the train operators don't give a fuck, lay on few extra services, and don't see it in their remit to provide enough transport to meet demand, but rather to inform the public when demand has exceeded what they are prepared to make available.
