someone made an interesting point in
another thread.
yes he did. perhaps he left it there? seriously, someone correct me on this- most of his crosses for us went to crouch's head right? as opposed to el nino who'd rather be given a ball to his feet.
i never really gave it much thought, but its actually true. you can argue that crouch is also good with his feet, but his stand out strength is in the air. fernando is seemingly better with his feet (has he scored with his head yet?).
given rafa's preference for playing babel and kuyt on the left and right respectively, maybe you could say that playing torres makes more sense? i'm not the best at stats and all that, but i'm guessing that when pennant plays, crouch usually plays too?
i just found it an interesting point. i suppose you could say the wings and the one up top are dependent on each other? it could also be a sign on what kind of winger would fit in better into the team. maybe we need someone who's good at fizzing ball in low, rather than someone who can float it in? thinking about it now, our attack really isn't that good at headers, bar crouch.
apologies if this post is a bit messy. its getting late over here and i just had to get my thoughts across.
main point being...we're not that good with crossing and headers generally, so we might as well focus on playing it low.
