It's a weird argument. You hit the brakes in a car, and it doesn't stop immediately. Doesn't mean the brakes aren't having an effect.

Who reflexively pulls a shirt? It's like saying "my reflex was to punch him, but I didn't punch him that hard, fucking VAR" ... the sideshow bob, lanky streak of wobbly-headed, unpredictable chaos, clown
Beatings will continue until morale improves...

He's nuts. Basically saying it was a reflex to grab the shirt, but it wasn't a penalty because he didn't grab the shirt with enough power to stop him. Apparently VAR can't judge how much he held him up. The line about XL shirts is just 'Buh?'
Comforting to see he's not an idiot just on the pitch.

Interesting watch Mo this season.

I think scoring so many goals in his first season weighed on his mind last season when he didn't reach the same tally.

Now I think the penny has dropped that is fine and dandy to rack up 20 odd. And that seems to have taken pressure off him.
No sign of the slightly unhappy looking Mo that was around for a bit last season. It looks like he's loving it. And could be heading for a bumper season again.

Players always do it now and I cant say I blame them. Any little comment is turned into a media frenzy, especially for certain players so I think they're just smart enough to keep things private and avoid the inevitable overreaction after

I'm always happy when, time and again, our supposed subpar midfield proves that it isn't to rival - and even our at times - fans. Like how Ceballos was going to press-resistant his way out of our press. They underestimate the players themselves and how much work, on and off the pitch, has gone into drilling us into this level.

For around 30 minutes in the 2nd half, we were relentless. They just couldn't cope with us, lost their heads and kept giving the ball away. We're really really good, nothing we don't know, and the thing is we're still some way from hitting our best this season. We're beating teams at a canter without stepping into 2nd gear.

Henderson was incredible! Surely even his biggest doubters must have changed their minds about him. So glad he's our captain.

People are idiots if they question Hendo’s place in the squad.

Of every player who has played for us since Gerrard lifted the European Cup in 2005, there is literally no better man who could have lifted it for us in June.

Took Virgil maybe the first quarter of the game to get him figured out, but that was it really. 2nd half he didn't do much of anything apart from put in a couple terrible balls.

I'm sure he'll be good for them, as he should be for £72 million, but apart form a few moments today, he didnt get a chance to show much.  You have to think that at home especially, Auba, Lacazette and him will rip apart plenty of teams.

Only negative was our attacking in the first half - again we looked perplexed with bus parking; nothing creative or penetrating from midfield at all and our fullbacks constantly hitting lofted crosses into a set defence.
But .... once we have a lead we’re not a fun team to play

Way better second half and it really is incredible how routine this team makes it look winning games

Great win but fuck me was it hot at the back of the Kop! ;D

In continental Europe, the arctic latitudes have warmer summer days than Liverpool, so I can get why you're not accustomed  ;D I'm at 58°N; same latitude as Thurso, and here that's called an epic summer day, but then again we're a sunny London in summer in spite of being neighbours with Santa Claus so...

Anyway, good game today, although it looked a bit shaky while 0-0. We could really do with Alisson back for September. That being said, Mo had playtime, Virgil really held it together when it looked stirry at the back and in the end we were simply a class above Arsenal. Good times indeed when a 3-1 at home to Arsenal feels just like a routine win, unlike how the 3-1 in early 2017 felt, when both teams were about equal in quality.

At a match I've never seen so many fat fellas with tissues, mopping their fucking sweat. Is it global warming, is it because the Anfield faithful have become far more corpulent over the years or is it that fat fellas are more discerning about their sweaty appearance.

Yeah, NBC thought we were the beez neez and that Arse were trash with Emery particularly  clueless.  With Dixon on the comms it kind of makes sense.  Tyler and Neville thought the opposite?  That’s awful, would have just muted.

Glad to see a good defensive performance and overall we were great.  On to Burnley, and the joy of Dyche claiming Salah cheats because he’s Egyptian or whatever Brexit talking point he’s on that day.

Short or long balls can be frustrating, but any decent delivery or shot today was met by any one of 8 Arsenal players packed in their box. That's why it looked hard mate.

For me that's our best XI.  Before the season I'd have preferred Naby/AOC instead of Hendo (with Hendo alternating with Gini) but Hendo has been outstanding!

A lot of credit for the protection given to Adrian.  Other than the Pepe break (good save) and their scruffy arse goal late on he was largely an observer of Arsenal megahyped attacking unit.

Sure but it won’t be the last time we face that and as with last year how we deal with that kind of his parking will be key

This team is so good. Those bursts where we just dominate the pitch for fifteen to thirty minute spells and win the game are something else. We're so used to it now, but it's really exhilarating to watch and a total nightmare to play against when our tails are up. That combination of relentless ball-winning, lethal pace and speed of interplay is a beautiful thing.

Pepe, who is a massively expensive young talent making his first start, troubled Virgil for about 20 minutes until he worked him out and by the end of the game he was just another attacker who was getting nothing from the next balon d'Or winner.
Yea they needed to figure out how to play him but it seemed pretty clear to dare him to beat us with his right foot, even when he beat Robertson he was going have beat us going to his right foot and because he wants to shoot with his left foot and that what he did even though going to the right was the way better option

They kept their back 4 narrow, caused us a little difficulty until we powered into the lead on a corner.  That was enough for Luiz to go Sideshow Bob. They gave it a good stab but we were brilliant and a lot better than them. So much crap written in the build up!

Bizarre game report in the Guardian - 'ponderous start by Liverpool', 'first goal against the run of play' etc. My comment that reporter Wilson must have spent a couple of hours in the Arkles before he got to the ground was removed. Since then about 100 people have posted something similar. The Graun has become a very strange newspaper.

Dullest win I've seen from us in a long time.  8)  Honestly watching the match analysis you'd think Arsenal were hard done by!  We were camped in their box, never mind their half, for most of the game!

Shame about the goal, but as I said earlier, we can just do Rodgers for the time being and simply outscore our opponents.  Once Alisson is back we'll get serious.
