Whats the situation with the 5 Champions League places? Looking at the table, looks like the 5 teams are now sorted.
Swap United for Villa.

With 16 games to play, I don't think it is to be honest. How many points were we behind when we ended up finishing 3rd in the covid season?

Spurs playing in a change strip when there’s no need . My pet hate.

Absolutely my pet hate too. Manchester City the worst for it. However in Spurs defence they play in all white this season so they would likely have to change shorts and socks anyway.

On the relegation battle front, long way to go and that but Everton go to City next weekend while Luton play Sheff Utd at home...

I think Villa will collapse. It just seems like a situation we’ve seen play out plenty of times with such teams. Rodgers basically threw away a CL spot two years running if I remember right.

He clearly forgot and wheeled away to celebrate at first anyway so why not just go with it ffs!

Whats the situation with the 5 Champions League places? Looking at the table, looks like the 5 teams are now sorted.

It’s massively dependent on how the PL sides perform in Europe, United and Newcastle both getting knocked out of Europe entirely in the group stages has made it significantly less secure than it otherwise would have been.

Germany and Italy are both ahead of the U.K at present - decent summary by Dale Johnson here: https://www.espn.co.uk/football/story/_/id/39054486/the-race-five-places-next-seasons-champions-league

It's performative bollocks.

By all means don't go over the top kissing the badge and all the rest of it (which Rooney did when going back there). But you don't need to react like you've just scored an own goal either.

To be fair, Rooney got a ridiculous amount of abuse when he went back there for the first time (FA Cup game if I remember).

City and us will win UCL and UEL. Villa a good shout for the Conference too.

Given the fact that we had 4 teams in it this season and 2 of them were comfortably eliminated in the group stages I’m not sure there’s much of an argument from England to be allowed a 5th.

Personally hope it doesn’t happen as we’re getting 4th anyway, could do without another summer of the media wanking themselves off about the dominance of the league again.

On the subject of performative bollocks...

This is how they compensate for being utter crap. Make it look like they at least care by overly aggressive play and faux hardman shite.

And they still welcomed him back as a hero after giving United all his best years and turned up back at Goodison washed up.

Yeah, I have no issue with players celebrating against former clubs. Think Shelvey did once when he scored against us, which I had no problem with. He apologised afterwards too, which he didn't need to do.

As I recall it's applied to the top 2 in the coefficients for this season.

https://kassiesa.net/uefa/data/method5/ccoef2024.html - England is currently 3rd so not qualifying as things stand (2 clubs out of the CL already doesn't help...;) )

(Ooops! Still, worth saying again... :lmao )

I remember David Thompson scored a cracker for Coventry at Anfield just after he left us and wildly celebrated. The crowd still applauded the goal.

It's kind of their thing under Postecoglu, they don't dominate. They create chances, but also concede them.
