A new one. Not sure from when it's supposed to be active.

1st June for competitions that start after that date

I think if there's 3 or more defenders in the wall, no attacking player is allowed within 1 metre of it or something along those lines.

Which I think is a piss take

So the ref ignores the foul on a Switzerland player but then awards a free kick and a yellow card for a similar foul on a Portugal player. Nothing like consistency.

Portugal player pushes a team mate into a Switzerland player and Portugal get the free kick :lmao Who the fuck is this ref?

It’s like if you find inventive ways to score out comes the 160 year old football rule book and a bottle of tipex.

The point of the rule is to prevent teams from having their players crash the wall which isn't really all that inventive.

Anyway, enjoyable game so far.

He still plays mostly from the right for the Swiss, but his role is more like a ten you're right, in terms of the defensive freedom he has and the playmaking responsibilities on him. He's consistently amazing for them in return - the Swiss fans must love him.

I'd be tempted to say to him next season come the cup games we will give you that same freedom you have for your country, go out and lead us to a domestic cup. And in the meantime you better graft in the league and CL when your opportunities arise!

It's a shame really, cos the Swiss are a good team and have some really good players, but they are really missing a decent striker.  Best they have is Seferovic and Embolo I think, neither of which are prolific, to put it mildly!
