Didn't the Herald have a ridiculously small turning circle?

Or was that just the broken ones?

if i had the money my choices would be:

1. Jenson Interceptor
2. Triumph Stag
3. Mark II Fiesta XR2 (only because I used to own one in my younger days and have some great memories)

There is a Jenson Interceptor for sale out here in Tucson of all places.
Been all over the world but Anfield is still my home.

I thought they were leaf springs?

Carl, John's referring to the front suspension bit (see attached at the end).

While the rear uses a leafspring, the front's a double 'wishbone' type suspension with a coilover shock arrangement (a MacPherson strut design on those Triumphs) like this...

The coils provide the main suspension at the front, the leaf spring at the rear, while the shocks all round do as they are named, attempting to smooth out the minor but violent bumps and keep the wheels in contact with the road surface and thus maintain grip.

This is quite a good page explaining the assorted suspension types over the years.

My apologies mate.

No need to apologise at all Carl, I blame John for any confusion... ;)

Back on the theme of cheapish potential classics, anyone any love for the Esprit?

I know that Lotus (Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious) can be a bit of a mixed experience, but I always thought and still think that the Esprit is quite a stylish looking jalopy and currently they can be bought quite cheap, though as ever with these things they seem to be currently rising a bit. Saw an early but still reasonable one pull in at a garage a couple of years ago when I was filling up with petrol and had a chat with the driver, he'd bought it for around 6k.  I think C&CC ran a few articles in the early 80's about dropping Rover V8's in them to make them really fly.

Another car featured on Wheeler Dealers, if I remember correctly Ed couldn't drive it as he didn't fit. Definitely a car I'd look at if I was looking for a classic sports car, would have to be either white or black though.

On my list of cars to own, ridden in one and driven one before. Still want one. There is a warehouse somewhere in the middle of Texas full of brand new parts for these, you can actually buy all the needed parts to build a brand new car....

Would be funny if he looked in his mail box and there was a card left saying ''we tried to deliver this at 1:21 AM  Oct. 25, 1985 but there was no answer so parcel has been taken back to the sorting depot''

Always remember that date cos its the day after my birthdee and 1 day after a beautiful baby called Wayne Rooney was born

Watched the first of the new series of Wheeler Dealers the other night - I can see why Ed left, a lot less focus on the work done on the car. Did an Escort Cosworth. Interesting bit was one of the designers of the car was on and said it originally had 3 rear spoliers, so they made one exactly as designed.

To be fair it was going that way since it moved to the states. Having said that they spent a fair bit of time on the spoiler. If the designer signed the log book or service book with reference to the spoiler and its' provenance then it will be worth a few quid. Definitely staged though, I find it hard to believe the owner took a 5k hit on his alleged selling price only to buy it back for 20k more after the work had been done.

Watching an episode of Chasing Classic Cars I recorded today, they've got a 1966 Ferrari 365P, one of only 2 made. Built on a race car chassis, it's a midengined 4.4 ltr V12 built by Pininfarina, 3 seats, driver sits central and then two seats either side, set slightly further back than the driver. Styling led to the Dino. On the show, the fella whos family had owned it since 1969 had it up at Auction with a  $23.5 million reserve, but bidding ONLY made $22.5 million.

Good friend of mine runs a classic car garage in Bodmin, Cornwall. (daddy owns the garage, fucking loaded but down to earth)

They have a Dino there in blue. They don't even own the car, a rich guy from Signapore bought it from them a while ago (£250,000!!!) but as he doesn't live in the UK he's OK with them keeping it and displaying at at the garage.  Mate gets to take it out for a spin on rare occasions, lucky bastard. How the other half live.

DeTomaso Pantera. Narrow and wide body versions. The latter was arguably the most aggressive-looking car in the world from the rear. (Yes those are the stock tire size!) Someone needs to resurrect this model or make a quality kit version a la the Shelby Cobras and Ford GT 40.

 :o
The two high ones are just speculators. Selling prices are about £40k-60k with the rarer GT5-S or super-modified versions maybe getting £75k. About 15 years ago when I had extra money I was seriously thinking of buying a Pantera. They were only about £27k-38k for good solid rust-free cars. The prices hadn't exploded as they did for Ferrari and Lambos.

EDIT: scroll through the pics of the red 1974 and the white 1974 at the bottom of each page. Holy hell! :lickin

It was definitely in the set my mate had. Had some real classics. Jensen Interseptor, DeTomaso Pantera, countch and urraco and at least one Ferrari.

Forget the rest just now
