Afghanistan getting a pasting in their first ever test match against India in Bangalore.

India batted first and made 474 (Dhawan 100 before lunch - only 6th player ever to do this in a test) and then bowled Afghanistan out for 109. Afghanistan followed on and are currently 44/4 just after tea.

Erm...

Only Pakistan can do that. However, I thought the batsman should have been called back as it goes against the spirit of the game to dismiss someone that clearly thought the ball was out of play albeit mistakenly. Similar things have happened before.

To be fair, not many teams get out of UAE with anything in tests. Pakistan are as dominant as anyone at home.

I know but the batsmen clearly thought the ball went to the boundary. They weren't attempting to take an extra run. Yes, they should have not done what they did but I would have liked to see a bit more generosity from the Australian team.

Nothing to laugh about here. Australia have consistently played by the spirit of the game for the best part of the decade and ensured that no one crossed the line during this period.

David Warner yet again being Cricket’s most hypocritical moral guardian, getting humpty about people behaving towards him in the way he’s behaved towards others his entire career.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/46001862

I thought getting banned in the way did might have brought out a bit of humility and self awareness, alas no. He obviously thinks that being banned allows him to double up on his self appointed role as a moral crusader.

It wasn't even much of a sledge, more of a home truth.  Jason Hughes apparently told Warner that he was a disgrace to the game and he should have got a harsher ban. It's not particularly personal, and Warner surely has to understand how upset and angry people still are over the ball tampering scandal.  I'm afraid he has to take that sort of stuff on the chin, not ask to be wrapped in cotton wool in case his feelings get hurt.

Again, considering the stuff in people's personal lives that Warner has thought was fair game to bring up on a cricket field over the years, it's a bit precious of him to walk off because a grade cricketer has given him a bit of chirp over his actions as a cricketer.

How's he going to cope in the Test arena should he ever get back in?  It's the Ashes next summer, the first series he'll be available for after his ban. If selected does he really believe the likes of Stokes and Bairstow (who'd love to give a bit back) are going to see the ball tampering stuff as off limits?  The crowds certainly won't.

I wouldn’t  have been so gracious as to let him back on.

Really can’t take it, but is OK giving it out.

Pakistan needed 41 to win with 6 wickets left and lost by 4 runs. Closest margin of victory since the Edgbaston Test of 2005. Oof.

Australian Test Squad for the 4 Test series with India.

Aaron Finch, Marcus Harris, Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Peter Handscomb, Mitchell Marsh, Tim Paine (c), Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon, Travis Head, Chris Tremain, Peter Siddle

Will be fascinating. Australian cricket is in complete disarray and had never been more on it's knees.

Can someone summarise the Aus India match from yesterday? Australia scored 158 but India’s target was 174.

I understand (largely) the vagaries of Duckworth Lewis (and the other bloke who’s recently got in on the act) but I don’t see how India’s target was so much higher *before* their inning started. Were there loads of rain delays or something?

India ended up scoring 11 more than Aus and still lost by 5 runs.

I believe it is because Aus started their innings expecting to bat for 20 overs.
