Dominic West was in some program about Fred West.

And that's an excellent programme too.
It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.

Haven't seen it, but I think I know the one you're on about - he was Fred West wasn't he?

He tends to crop up in things more than most I think. Quite often playing a villain, presumably down to him having a posh English accent.

Just reading on David Simon's website that he is collabarating on a book titled The Avenue about the begining of the drug problem in Baltimore from the 1950s through to the 1980s. Wire prequel in 5-6 years maybe?

Here's a documentary all fan's of The Wire should, actually everyone should watch it.

This is imo the best documentary about the war on drug's I've seen since The Last White Hope,it's a damning look at the failure of this so called war.

It's a must see film. It's available on the BBC Iplayer.I f you can't acess the Iplayer stream it from their website.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01pzz69/Storyville_20122013_The_House_I_Live_In/

http://www.thehouseilivein.org/see-the-film/watch-the-film/
Exercise is to the body what reading is to the mind.

"If I hadn't doped, I would never have won". "Doping improves your performance between 5 and 7 per cent, and maybe 10 to 12 per cent when you are in a peak shape.

"Doping isn't addictive but it's an instrument of power: whoever wins attracts the money; for themselves, the team and the sponsors"

Tempted to re-watch the series. The House I Live In war on drugs documentary reminds a lot of the series, in the way it portrayed the drug scene across the political and social classes.  Might watch series two as a stand alone again.
The courts, the rich, the powerful or those in authority never lie. It has been dealt with 'by the courts' nothing to see here run along.

You and Malaysian Kopite are both in for a treat. The show is nothing short of television perfection. I know this thread is 90 pages long and everybody else has said it at some point, but it is truly remarkable. It is so good and so true to life that it could easily be a 5 season documentary. The acting, the writing, the journey you take with some truly fascinating and abhorrent characters is like nothing I've been on before in television or cinema.

It has the ability, like The Sopranos, to make you love, root for and even respect people you should be happy to see burnt at the stake. It attaches you so uniquely to the enviroment of Baltimore that you seriously feel part of society. Now that might sound strange but for me it was true. I'm very envious of you both for being at the start but I hope you enjoy it nearly as much as I did.

I polished it off within a month.

It really is like a novel with so many overlapping storylines. I loved it.

I actually liked Season 2. Then again I'm on a huge pro labor jag at the moment. Plus it was refreshing to see people actually trying to play it the system's way and still getting drawn into crime because doing things the right way only makes the bosses rich.

It changes each season.  Tom Waits sings the season two version, its his song originally from his album 'Frank's Wild Years'.
