Well a lot of them are of Scottish descent so we can rule that part out.

As they've got the largest talent pool and the most cash they could just dominate in the near future in all formats, so every defeat is a win for everyone else in the game of cricket.

So why do you hate them?

I don't hate India, it's just nice to see the underdog win.  Be nice if the underdog wins in the second semi too  :)

I'd rather play NZ in the final than India.

Read it again.

'They have the largest talent pool'. This refers to the amount of people available to play for the national team, no? Peculiar reason to dislike them.

You're concentrating on a few words and not reading the entire sentence. So, as i said, read it again.

I don't hate them, (except jadeja), I just quite like seeing them lose.

England and Wales will win the rugby one, it’s fine.

How will that happen, given they are two different teams?  Or is this a continuation of the "X vs Y? Yes" meme?

Not sure that's true. Didn't they have issues in the Rugby for a long time? The 90's and 00's they were questioned a lot for their mentality.

Yet to win a Cricket World Cup too.

Fair enough, maybe harsh to call out their lack of a Cricket World Cup.

Though i think it's fair to point out how they had issues in the Rugby for a fair bit.

Not ashamed to admit it, I hate the Indian cricket team because of the BCCI. The way they've essentially cornered the other boards into submission and stopped the game from growing stinks to high heaven. No one likes a bully, any time they lose is cause for delight.

I'm generalizing but their fans tend to be entitled, whining crybabies most of the time. The empty seats when India are losing or even the stunned silence when an opposing batsman hits a boundary is hilarious.

That is not to say that I don't have a lot of time for Virat Kohli and his talent or sheer commitment to test cricket. It's the board and their politics, and some of the supporters, that make me want to always support their opponent, unless they're playing Australia in which case it's fair game  ;D.

Dhoni now is like the DM who always passes backwards and sideways (no reference to anything else said on these football threads :) and some still think he is a tactical genius. In the past he had a killer forward pass in his locker but its gone now.
Saw a few comments on Kohli above, I think his post match comments were on the money today and very respectful. He has matured a lot from this early years.
Also, a few comments on BCCI - not the biggest fan in terms of how they have conducted themselves in the past but how exactly have they stopped the game from growing? I think their efforts in supporting the first class structure and test cricket in general have been good. Money rules in cricket just like everywhere else and people dont like it but overall for cricket globally, the same money helps.

1. Failure to countenance cricket's inclusion in the Olympics because it would dilute power and they would have to deal with the Indian Olympic Association and share the spoils

2. Forming a cabal with the ECB and CA and then running a protection racket by going to the opposing boards one-by-one and dictating they accept the new order or else be left behind, yes I know that there was a slight improvement in the distribution of ICC funds later, but it's still skewed towards the big boys to the detriment of the boards that really need that support

3. Bullying other boards by refusing to play with them unless they agree to scheduling demands or in the case of South Africa, removing the Chief Executive because they didn't like him

4. The whole shenanigans in refusing to accept DRS a few years ago

5. Muzzling of commentators to provide objective commentary

I don't give a fuck about the capitalist argument, the administrators have failed the game and the BCCI's politics are one of the biggest reasons behind that.

Where have all these cricket fans suddenly come from?

Anyway back to today's cricket, could go either way, toss could be important, at least it will feel like a home game for England.
Worried about Starc he really is top class, how both teams opener's start the game will go a long way to deciding who wins.

1st generation Indian here....have lurked on this thread and not posted because generally dont get the need to post on "rival" fans threads (majority here being england fans).

I get the dislike for BCCI. Nobs for the most part not too disimilar to FIFA/UEFA/FA etc
I get the dislike of Kohli. Definitely someone who rubs people the wrong way especially in the past but personally as a fan I love the confidence and aggressiveness he's brought to the Indian team who've been passive for most of my life.
And let's face it, not like Aussies/England dont have players that can be perceived that way from an opposing view. And fans are fans....some are twats, some aren't. As this board has shown up too

Hard to bite the tongue as some of the comments ive read on here in regards to Indians in general (for some reason?) been shocking to be honest and not just "banter"
If India don't do well I generally want England to as I was born here and though thats not been helped by shit I've read off here and other comments sections on BBC etc. but whatever, is what it is

Actual opinion on the match yesterday - middle order was shown up. 4/5/6 is an issue for India though Pant has good potential, his temperament is an issue but at 21 its bound to be. Rayudu was a shout for that position perhaps?
Maybe Agarwal should have been brought in as soon as Dhawan got injured and given a shot to not mess up the order of the rest of the batsmen....Shankar getting injured also didnt help. Maybe Pant as an opener should have been tried instead. Selection issues are always problematic when it comes to India...too much politics and ego. I am guessing Shastri will not be there for much longer, anyways I digress

Dhoni should have helped take a bit more pressure off Jadeja (something he has struggled with all tournamenet) though credit to him for staying in. Jadeja was immense.

Last word should be on how excellent the Kiwis were. Deserved winners...had a plan, stuck to it. Took advantage of moments when they came and REALLY put India to the sword in the opening 5 overs when it counted and it exposed us. The run out of dhoni and catch by neesham were great moments for them, match defining.

Back to your bubble, i'll stick to lurking. Good luck to England today  :wave

I've basically not taken an interest in cricket since Tendulkar retired. What has the BCCI done!?

I think the whole fanbase culture is an Asian thing though. Very quick to turn their backs on someone for failing which is a shame. I actually think it's fairly common but as a football fanbase we (LFC) seem to generally not be that bad.

Rain forecast from 1pm onwards.

Met Office has a 50% chance of rain at 4 but nothing until then. It's been very changeable but there'll be rain at some point today but dont think itll be til later

Ah sorry, just seen this. A big shame some of this.

I can see why there is a dislike of the BCCI and Kohli, even our fanbase. But some of the comments I've seen in here the past few days seem to be towing the line a bit.

I love the fanbase. Just pure passion and energy. Like someone above said, same for the other countries in the region, but its probably most prominent with the Indian fans. Jadejas knock yesterday was probably one of the best of the World Cup considering the circumstances.
