When they reach Holland, sailing down a canal, they spot a family on the bank... "Dont act suspicious Rodney, pretend we are dutchmen..." Delboy then shouts out to the family... "AJAX".... hahahaha

My favourite ever comedy series. Thought they ruined it when they became millionaires though, didn't even watch the remaining episodes after that.

The final episode when they walked into the sunset after becoming millionaires was the perfect ending for the series. I am sure all true fans shed a tear or two after watching that one. I do agree though, the episodes following that fell short of the standards we had all come to expect.
Liverpool was made for me and I was made for Liverpool.

Loved that show, saw them all countless times although i agree they finished it well the first time,i did enjoy a couple of the later ones like Modern men and Strangers on the shore.

Top five oldies.

Jolly boys outing
To hull and back
chain gang
a touch of glass
the one when rodney met the royal, the name escapes me.

Greatest show ever,nothing comes close.
That right peg hits it and you see the future arc of the ball and time goes al gluey like a Dali painting, and for a second there's a 20yr old StevenGerrard and your young self cheering him on through the prism. His big smile fades in an the net is shivering and J.Hart's trying not to look grateful for the privilege of being that close to greatness

David Jason was just born for that role, superb actor.
Absolutely mate. The series and the actor would be insignificant without the other albeit the script writing by John Sullivan simply unbelievable brilliant.

Mike What name have they decided on?
Trigger If it's a girl they're calling her Sigourney after an actress, and if it's a boy they're naming him Rodney after Dave.
  ;D
Rodney & Cassandra's engagement (or something) in the Nags Head. There's a load chorus of congratulations with Trigger there.

Miami twice is a classic. Love to Hull and back as well. Great bit where Del is reassuring Rodders about sailing the boat and finding a skipper and it cuts to Albert getting off the train.

Just on a different level to any other comedy isnt it?

And for a comedy, it does drama so well. I had tears in my eyes when Rodey got married and Del is left looking at the wedding cake all sad about Rodders leaving home.

Just utter, utter class.

By the way, want the boxset but lots of people have said that the episodes are edited. Is that true?

And did anyone watch the preuel? Thought it was quite good myself.

Jolly boys outing
To hull and back

And the whole of series 6, each one is a classic in it’s own right,

Yuppy Love
Danger UXD
Chain Gang

Sickness and wealth

I believe that is the case, yea:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Only_Fools_And_Horses_DVD_cuts

I got the US format version because I'd heard that it was unedited but unfortunately even that is stripped down in places as well, although to a lesser extent than the UK offering. Criminal really that it doesn't appear that a complete unedited version of the UK's greatest ever comedy series is available on either VHS or DVD.

Not sure if this is correct, but David Jason wasnt first choice for the role of Del Boy was he? The first choice was the actor who played Roy Slater. Cant remember where I read/saw that.

yeah i heard that jim broadbent was the original choice, hard to think of it being the same or anywhere near as good.  Anyone think Rock and chips was any good ? I though lyndhurst was great playing freddy the frog.

I thought is was good, the only dissapointment for me was, the lad who played del. I found him hard to like for some reason.

That's probably the one single moment I remember everytime I think of Only Fools & Horses. I absolutely loved it (& still do), probably the greatest comedy ever - but isn't it a sign of class that of all scenes within a comedy, a moment such as this sticks out in your mind. Great song choice too, despite Hucknall being a manc  ;)

To be honest mate, I wasn't around when most of the episodes were aired originally so I probably know many of the 'edited' versions as the norm. There are some parts that you will probably notice if you've seen the episodes a lot previously but no, on the whole, it doesn't ruin the enjoyment of them to the point where you shouldn't get it.

One of my fave all-time bits is the episode with the Chandelier and also in the bar where del goes down and Trigger turns around looking for him

Yeah I completely forgot how he started to cry as soon as Cass spoke :D

The obvious ones like when he fell in the bar to how you felt for Del when he's left alone in the Nag's head and Simply Red plays as Rodney goes on honeymoon......... was excellent when it was at its best and not just for its comedic moments.

The emotion in it is brilliantly done, and certainly hits me. I still gets a strange feeling when the trotter's are applauded when they come into the nags head after becoming millionaires. Brings a tear tot he eye.

By god they should have finished it there, just brilliant.
