I forgot to record that, I'll have to check it out. He could have a point about long journeys, I've seen the charge stations out of order at Keele on more than one occasion, although at Gretna the other week, the points were all taken by Teslas so anyone needing a recharge was having to sit and wait and I was chatting on a Jag forum about the I-Pace and how the claimed 300 mile range is bollocks when you check it on the Jag website - it gets worse the colder it gets, its something like 150 miles at 6c at an average 57mph, I average 55 in the truck on a run to Scotland once I'm on the M6.
my model 3 has a range of "340" and real world if driven conservatively, will easily get around 300, i havent had to drive in extremes yet, so will be interesting to see how the range changes in winter.
The number of charge points is a potential issue but week on week is improving, with new charging points becoming active all the time - but this is always going to be the case as the take up of EV's increases. I guess it should be said that the Tesla network does appear to be ahead of the game and i've never had to wait to charge my car when required.
I did a check in my car this morning, to plan the route between Reading (where i work) and John O Groats - 700 miles, there were 3 stops of about half hour each to recharge, about 12 hours in total for the journey and would cost about £40/£50 in charging.
One thing that seems to get ignored with EV's is the lack of servicing required on these cars, fewer moving parts = less issues, regenerative braking = brake pads lasting twice as long etc etc.
I've checked my costs for charging etc since i got the car in January and i probably spend in the region of about £100 a month, whereas previously it was £250 in diesel.
I'm not going to say its perfect, because its not yet, but i'm getting more benefit than downside from driving an ICE
