Which one? And how are first impressions? I'm going to PCWorld tomorrow to check one out (the nearest Apple Store to here is in Birmingham.. so have to go to PCWorld).

Niice.

Wish Apple didn't place a premium on the black ones- I'd get one in a shot!

Mine still hasn't come :(

Getting a tad annoyed about it as it said it shipped on the 18th but the shipping status thing hasn't been updated at all since even though it says details will be updated shortly regarding the carrier etc, think I should give them a call and see what's happening.

Yeah, I would.

Where does the tracking say it is?

Should have left china then gone to holland, then to some hub in england then out for delivery.

I think I read somewhere on the net, that when Apple say 'shipped' it doesn't necessarily mean it's been sent out already... or something like that. How long has it been now?

Reckon you should ring them too.

Doesn't say where it is, just that it's on it's way to Liverpool.

Ok, this is unbelievably spooky.

I just went to the Apple site again (I checked about an hour ago) to get the wording to see if it makes sense to you, and it's been updated.

Now has carrier number/assigned carrier filled in and it says estimated delivery date the 22nd, which is yesterday obviously and it's not here. Could arrive today :D

Uhh.. says carrier is UK Distribution centre... um, I'm assuming that's something to do with Apple themselves, can you not track it like you can with CityLink etc? Like, it tells you if it's with the courier or whatever, it's just I'll need to make sure someone's in, bloody Apple.

Why would anyone buy a 17" notebook? They're not particularly portable.

I'd buy the smallest screen I could find and a 19" or bigger normal monitor to connect it to.

depends how big your bag is!

I have a 12" powerbook, and I think that anything bigger would have been a mistake for portability reasons. But a friend at uni had a 17" powerbook and carried it around fine.

Well, that's my contention. I do understand the trade off for some trades though, photographers and designers especially. If you have to go to a clients house/work regularly and discuss designs or if you're a photographer in the field.

So sometimes the trade of is understandable, although I wouldn't do it personally.

Ah. Well good luck if you'r challenging them.

I think we had a balls up in one of our markings- AS grades for General Studies, in one of the papers every single mark in the year's papers came back as 33/100 (a U). Wonder how crap like that is allowed to happen.

Everyone in our year got Cs for RS due to the teacher's policy of not marking and just writing a random high grade on the front.

Pathetic.

What a load of shite... our school got warned for that in our GCSE Maths I think- marking a bit too generously. But they didn't take any further action on it.

Hope it gets sorted as that's really not fair...

DHL and city link are fucking clueless. First time I ordered from apple it came from DHL and they were actual dog shit in the form of a courier company. Mate had them too and had a similar experience. Second time I had UPS and they were ace.

The apple order tracking has got worse though for some reason - it used to give you a tracking number so you could actually track with the corier, but from what happened to another mate of mine, they don't do that anymore?

I suppose, if you drive a car everywhere and always have a large desk to plonk it on. I had a 12" iBook till it broke. Absolutely the perfect size. Slips in any bag, fits on your lap perfectly and you could use it on trains/planes etc. where it's just too tight to be trying to get to grips with a massive 17" laptop.

DHL are alright and CityLink have always been good for me, ie turned up when expected and had the sense to leave the package next door when no-one was in etc.

When they can be arsed to update the status page properly ::) they do give you a tracking number and an assigned carrier, it was updated again last night, UPS have it and it shall be arriving today :)

I'm gonna keep the tracker open in work ALL day :D

The Mac sold Smiff on eBay, Baz. Major error and Smiff has no warranty, so the Mac couldn't even take Smiff back to where it bought him.
