Mackay is probably the best choice out of those realistically linked to the club, whether he can keep them up is another matter but they will make a good fight of it and if worse comes the worse, he should be able to get them back up.

At the time of his sacking last season Cardiff were safe. Still near the relegation zone in 16th or 17th, but they had a decent shot at staying up. Without him they sank to the bottom like a stone.

Indeed. Just a question of if the squad is strong enough since he won't have much time to shape it

This Parish chairman must be a real fuckwit to work for if both Pulis and Mackay decided they couldn't work for him.

Sherwood would be fun to watch

This Parish chairman must be a real fuckwit to work for if both Pulis and Mackay decided they couldn't work for him.

According to the Mirror, Parish got cold feet when Vincent Tan sent him a dossier allegedly containing details of Mackay's alleged wrongdoings. Allegedly.

Quote
Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan has taken the ultimate revenge on Malky Mackay.

Crystal Palace yesterday did a dramatic U-turn and withdrew their job offer to former Cardiff boss Mackay.

It came after Cardiff submitted a dossier to the Football Association questioning Mackay’s conduct during his reign at the Welsh club.

Mirror Sport understands the dossier also names Palace director of football Iain Moody who worked with Mackay at Cardiff.

Several top agents and lawyers are also named in the document while it is understood that Tan has refused to pay commission to agents on almost all of the deals done under Mackay’s reign.

Cardiff have questioned the level of fees, commission and role of agents in several deals during Mackay’s two years at the club, which the team won promotion to the top flight for the first time since 1962.

Cardiff are also set to pursue legal action against Palace and Moody in the “Spygate” case.

The dossier and allegations appear to have persuaded Palace co-chairman Steve Parish to put on hold the appointment of a new boss.

Good on Tan. Great timing!  :lmao Although essentric the press sure gave him a bad time while absolving Mackay of any blame which is just crazy when you look at his buys & some of the storys about. Interesting about the agent fees.

Steve Clarke and Colin Wanker the main two frontrunners now.

If they go with Warnock then stick everything you possibly can on him not lasting the season.

If Warnock gets it, it could be interesting, given his relationship with Jason Puncheon.

Mental. With the money available these days, why don't these lower to mid tier clubs scour the globe for the best coaching talent, identify and pick the likes of Simeone, Pocchettino while they are still in their late 30s, just stepping into coaching. It only has to be done once properly, then you're set for years (as long as you're as a sensibly run club who don't press eject after 5 bad results in a row etc)

Nearly anybody would be better, at Prem level, then Warnock. He will probably do fine once they are relegated but he comes up so short at this level.

There will be good British coaches further down the levels who deserve a chance more than Warnock as well. No idea why you'd go for a known failure at this level over someone who could end up doing well.
