WOW! 2 current Reds, 1 former Red + 2 future Reds! Do we like our African footballers, or what?!!? ;D

Just had a thought, we could have 3 key players missing for a whole month next season for the 2019 AFCON. A long way away but still slightly concerning...

Two future reds? Are we signing Moses again?

But yeah they all have either played, playing or will play for LFC / or played for Klopp.

Anyone know why the lad seems to get subbed off all the time? I must admit I don't watch any Bundesliga but every time I seem to check how Leipzig get on he has been subbed relatively early. Last 5 league games (mins played 45, 62, 90, 33, 54).

Just seems strange, are they punishing him?

Will be very interesting to see this lad mature at Liverpool as he should add another level to our team. Right now our attack with the four amigos is one of the best in Europe on their day and from their energy levels the rest of the team feed off of. Just imagine a Salah  / Mane type impact to our midfield next season and all of a sudden it takes the team up another level. Fingers crossed Keita will provide that energy / impact as the spine of the team needs strengthening once you get to the middle / lower vertebrae.

Could be very comical watching us when it comes to corners as while im a minnow myself the likes of Keita, coutinho, Lallana, Mane, Salah, Moreno etc are all 5ft 9 or less. We will be like a pack of terriers ;)

Brilliant goal.

Oh my how we could have done with him tonight in our midfield.

Seen some impressive stats from the game tonight on Twitter, looks like he had a fab game.

I feel like we need another signing of the quality of Keith for midfield as well.....Henderson and Gini - the only true midfielders are ok at best. Sometimes they look good, other times they go missing like today. Milner is capable - but about to be 32 and really is a spot starter in the middle. Gujic, Ejaria, Woodburn - all too unproven. (Can - gone, Coutinho - not always a mid and isn't going to add steel and maybe gone, Lallana - good at certain aspects of midfield, but again doesnt control a game) - who will also be nearing 30).

Definitely need another midfielder coming in, preferably a defensive mid who's a specialist in the position.

I'd kill for us to buy one and then keep Coutinho. I know it's all bullshit as I'm pretty much resigned to losing him in the summer, but it'd be fucking fantastic. A defensive mid with decent distribution, Keita ahead running games, and Coutinho up to all his usual magic shite, and if you keep that front 3 together (and buy a high scoring number 9 - nothing against Bobby, who's fucking great) it'd be happy days.

... if they can fix the defence  ;D

I've been watching him in games really closely lately and the more I see him the more I'm convinced that he's exactly what doctor ordered when it comes to addressing what is probably our biggest issue.

He's so incredibly strong in challenges and has so many different tools in his locker when it comes to nicking the ball off opponents. It's not just Sevilla game but also City and Spurs if we had someone like Naby in these games in front of our back 4 it would have been a significantly different story. Having someone who is as difficult of play against as Naby is will elevate us onto a higher level as a team I'm more than sure of it.

Without the ball he's closest we can find to that Kante, Mascherano types of players that can allow attacking players around them to further express themselves.

This season I've found our DM performances to be incredibly frustrating but I highly doubt it will be the same next season.

Sooo just.... A decent defensive MFer, Keita, Coutinho staying, a new high scoring centre forward, and "the defence fixed".  We'll get that sorted this year   :) ;)

Has there ever been a player coming to the club with any more expectations than this lad? I mean people here are almost expecting him to be our saviour. I know his stats are superb, both in defensive situations and attacking. Stats dont guarantee you anything though. Will people be on his back at once if he doesnt deliver right from the off?

He is not physically imposing, by that I mean he is not an aerial player. We still need aerially dominant players, hopefully a van Dijk in the centre back position and a physical and clever DM (with obvious ball playing qualities as well) to protect the back four and which would give Keita license to do what he does best. To put him next to Hendo or Gini would not be an ideal situation the way I see it. He is not the solution on his own.

He seems to make quite a few fouls too, it happens when you are as agressive and involved as he is. Which is not really a huge problem as we dont seem to make enough of them at critical times, we sort of make them in situations where its just unnecessary (see Moreno vs Sevilla). But we arent exactly great at defending set pieces.

Obviously sorry to try and dampen the mood here. I am really excited about Keita as well. But like everyone he should be given time to adjust and not be drowned in our expectations to immediately lead us to glory (although I would be happy if he did  ;D ).

But is he?

I mean, will he be stationed there in a DM role, or licensed to get forward and do damage with assists and goals? I would still get another defensive mid in and allow Naby to get forward and supply the bullets.

I think that's the best thing about him, by all accounts he's this freak that can contribute on both sides of the ball so he could do all the protection in a double pivot and still support our forwards by attacking the box - something similar to how Klopp had Sahin/Gundogan next to Kehl/Bender. It would save us money on a specialist DM that we can then use to maybe get a really good forward and push Bobby back to 10. This would be ideal scenario imo (since I don't expect Phil to be around next season).

I don't know where this push Bobby back to 10 has come from. Firmino has been woeful everytime he's played behind a forward (for us). He's a false number 9 and a very good one at that. Regarding the specialist DM, I really hope we still go out and get one to play next to Keita.

My only concern with Keita is that he seems a player very ambitious with his passing. Thats fine, he looks to make things happen. But as a result his pass success rate is lower and I worry that if you have a situation with him and Coutinho in the midfield then are we going to keep the ball as much.

Personally I think you may need 1 or 2 players alongside him that can hold onto the ball and be a little bit more conservative with their passing, which could mean its one of Keita or Coutinho who starts.

I wouldn't worry too much about him and Coutinho playing in the same midfield - unless one of them changes nationality   :)  ;D

There will also be a new boss CB (surely?) and a new GK (hopefully) so it won't be all on Naby.
