Playing Lallana & Coutinho in midfield is surely the way forward as we do need that additional spark of vision / attack in the middle of the park. It does put additional responsibilities on Henderson / defence as a whole but no way should we have to pack the second line with defensive midfielders just to cover our shortfall in the backline. A false 9 like Firmino will not score the 20 plus league goals Kane, Costa and co were scoring before so the rest of the attacking players have to step up...a trio of Lallana, Coutino & Henderson should return 25 league goals approx. Any other midfield trio combo is probably going to struggle to give you that. Going to be interesting to see how it progresses as there has been suggestions Lallana is reaching his expiration age, god knows what will happen with Coutinho but cant plan anything long term around him can you? Keita coming in next summer.... Bit of a flux right now which is not great for the engine of our team.

The way they were talking before it sounded as if he'd be back this month, disappointing that it will be the middle of November.

It was always going to be the case, he ruptured a quad tendon which is a nasty injury.

How nasty, mate? Is he on course in his recovery given the injury he has? Finally, given his age, is it an injury he can come back from with the same intensity he had before?

Good luck to the taffs tonight!

Yeah he should be fine, he should be right on track for it considering her was conservatively managed.

Great news!

When he's fit and on form, our transitions to attack from midfield are really seamless.
I have really missed seeing him on the pitch, good to see he's finally back.  :)

Why do people include him as one of our options, he's barely ever been used and when he has he's looked out of his depth.

You've missed out Milner who is a very good midfielder. Grujic will do well to be anywhere near as good as him.

Anyway lallana is boss. Cannot wait for him to be back and match fit. I'm sure he'll get some minutes on Tuesday

Lallana Coutinho

Man City are destroying teams with Silva & De Bryne, I wouldn't say that two are better defensively than Lallana & Coutinho.

Against the weaker sides, it should be an option.

Imagine how lovely it would be, compared to last season's desperation, to manage his integration back to full fitness and starting. Supposing the games are going well, we could rest Coutinho and bring on our other midfield-three link man and tempo controller (for lack of a better comparison between the two)

I think it’s true. The impact he has on our game in midfield is astounding. He is to our midfield what Firmino is to our attack.

Have been looking forward to him being back all season. Hopefully he’ll be fully firing by the Xmas fixtures.

I don't think its particularly outlandish to be honest
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

I couldn't be more excited for this.

We are always a better team when Lallana is playing.

Our 3 forwards will be now getting the ball that much faster with a fraction of more space to operate in, I fully expect us to hit another gear in the coming weeks though it won't be easy for Klopp to find the perfect shape and balance in order to squeeze all our attacking players in the first XI.
