Lads why dont you just get yourselves a slingbox partner or in your cases maybe 2 one in HK for star sports and one in England for SKY you wouldn't have any problems getting a taker as you lot get the good shows before they are aired anywhere else,i'd offer to do it but i'm all hooked up as it is.

We wouldn't have to if ESPN, who has all the broadcasting rights to Premiership games, would fuckin show them instead of two hillbillys fishing on a boat. Which is what they show on Saturday and Sunday mornings durring match times here in the US.

Then dont, just continue to bitch about ESPN and their advertising revenues (they obviously get more viewers for the hillbillies) whilst discounting the soloution.

I already have FSC and GOAL TV.  When I want to watch a match thats on Setanta I will go to the pub and watch it. So I didn't 'discount the solution'. Next season I will get Setanta. Does that sound good to you? Meet your approval? So don't get fuckin snippy. I was just making a point

First off my original post about the lack of football on ESPN wasn't aimed at you. Why would you think that someone you never met would verbally attack you over a television company that you have no control over? Secondly, your reply seemed very unprovoked. I was calling to attention that ESPN is bollocks. I already have a means to obtain FSC, GOAL TV without paying for them. So I am already saving money

Sound good?

Hey, Sarch - there shouldn't be a problem on the 11th:  Villa away is hardly going to draw the same # of people as the CL Final!

You should be good if you get there by 11:15-11:30 (if you don't mind standing, even later should be fine).  As it's on Fox, we may not actually have that big a crowd at all except for our regular deadbeats (like myself.... )

Actually, would you mind PM'ing me, please?  Just have a question about final day as you mentioned it - ta.

No that was pretty much it.  Setanta USA is only available on Direct TV as of today.  If what is posted above is true and Setanta gets two games from Fox Sports world  then I am not sure I would be that much affected.

Last season two games were always on Pay-Per-view.  I never paid for those in the first place and just streamed those game from the web.  Now if those move to Setanta and are no longer on Pay-Per-view than I will still be streaming them on the net.  No real change.

So unless you bought a season Pay-Per-View package than this would not affect you.  I just hope FOX Sports world maintains its 3 games on Saturday, 1 Sunday, 1 Monday routine.  If they do then I am fine.

A bit of a correction. Setanta is also available through ITVN for $15/month. I just bought it and hooked up for in time for Friday's HK final. I also discovered you can get every football channel (FSC, GOLTV, TYCsports, Fox Sports Espanol, ESPN Deportes) through Dish Network's (AT&T) Latino Dos package for under $40. I plan on putting my dvr to work this season!

Jacob, the post you quoted is over a year old (2006) and was true at the time - ITVN did not yet carry Setanta.  A lot of people are using the service now.

Meanwhile, just trawling back through this thread - funny.  And how the hell did Setanta manage to bump its per month cost from $11.99 last July/August to the current $14.99 with little uproar?  I remember looking at my bill a few months ago and saying "wtf"?  That's a lot of money for a standalone channel (more than HBO!  :o) - it's still cheaper than the old $300 PPV package, but not as great a deal as it first was at $12 a month!

All that said, we'll never give it up....

Connie..I wonder if Setanta would have gotten their channel on Dish and cable services if there would have been a cost increase. As it's just on Directv they don't get as much revenue.

I really need to check things like dates when I go correcting people. Thanks for keeping me on point Connie. Regarding the increase in price in relation to HBO's prices — the main difference is Setanta's programming is live and has no value a year later via dvd sales unlike HBO. I imagine cashing in on all the dvd/rental market at the same time restricts how much HBO can charge. But I really have no idea why Setanta is isn't available on cable and/or satellite networks. Actually I think I saw Setanta offered on some international only satellite network called Globe Cast. Same price of course. So that's 3 different options, not including paying for it to be streamed online, though that's slightly different coverage I believe.

morning fellas,

i just scoured the web (although not intensively), and i couldn't find any confirmed reports on which channel is going to cover the majority of the liverpool matches this season. considering there is a liverpool channel on setanta now, i am guessing it is going to be setanta, but can any of the regulars confirm this?
