The Real Ronaldo
« on: January 12, 2012, 03:08:21 pm »
Well I don't know anyone else but I still love this guy and he took time out as of recent to visit PSG football club and has a special relationship with the club and it was nice to see all the players appreciate him.

Carlo at the end is happy to see him.

Here's the video:

What a legend that man is. Was thinking of making a video comp of him actually.

Edit: I will make one, anybody link me to a goal archive of his?

Cracking player. It's a shame that plastic Ronaldo took his name from his dads admiration of Ronald Reagan.

There is only one Ronaldo.

Love him, absolutely love him, one of the reasons I love Barcelona due to his spell there under Bobby and another reason to watch James R on Football Italia(though it was a great league at the time so many top players).

If you really wanna see a good sort of documentary on him, check out petenaldo on YouTube, 36 part video
Or something ridiculous and check out Zidanes comments at the start of the vid

Lucky bast.

Well being a transsexual prostitute certainly has its perks.

I say "met him"...he almost bumped into me whilst I was minding my own business browsing in Selfridges after work one random weekday night. I did that usual thing where you stare at someone because you think you know them and then it dawns on you you don't, they're just incredibly famous. He did something similar.

We never kept in touch. :(

Master of the toepoke finish, and I know people go on about his hat trick against the mancs but the hat trick he scored for Barca against Valencia was just a phenomenal show of a player with both unbelievable speed and power, how he muscles through the 2 Valencia defenders is out of this world!

At his time there was a legion of great defenders that he came up against in La Liga and Serie A. The likes of Maldini, Desailly, Blanc, Cannavaro, Nesta, Ayala, Hierro, Montero et all, he put all of them on their arses.

His finishing is his weirdest attribute in my mind, he never connects with the ball properly it seems yet he always gets it past the keeper in this area that is too close for him to be able to save. It's simply perfect finishing, I guess that hat trick of penalties against Argentina just showed his amazing composure in front of goal.

Ability to round a keeper was second to none. Question to all, had he not suffered those two knee injuries would he have been a better player than messi?

Who knows. His 1 season at Barcelona was phenomenal.

A more explosive, less involved version of Messi.

I think so.

He would have absolutely annihilated the present day defenders. Like scatman said, He played against some great defenders like Maldini, Nesta, Thuram, Ayala, Cannavaro, Desailly etc and none of them were really able to stop him. Imagine what he would have done to the likes of Vidic, Agger, Kompany, Chiellini, Pique, Pepe, Silva etc.

Incredible player a freight train with finesse, a total beast of a player, rarely does someone that gifted come in such a powerful unit - loved watching play, certainly one of the best (if not the best) in the modern era, such a pity about the injuries, lost one of the all time greats too early.

Ronaldo was the better player in my opinion, but there are few forwards I'd rather watch than Van Basten. Both are incredible footballers, probably the two best strikers I've seen.

Thing with Ronaldo is that even after all the injuries at times he was still unstoppable. That's a testament to how great he was.

Personally in my opinion if not for the injuries he'd have been regarded easily as the best player ever.

It's not that ridiculous a question. Van Basten is one of the absolute best forwards of all time. Not everyone wins 3 Ballon D'or, and like Ronaldo he had his career cut short because of injury.

Ronaldinho too, actually. Not quite in the same league, but I think he was far more fun to watch than Messi or C.Ronaldo.
