Southampton used today have a great set up for recruiting players and managers , used to have a  list regularly updated of 5 players in every position that would slot straight into their philosophy and same with managers

Did they lose who ever ran it ?

Not a foul on the keeper. You could see it flashing 'GOAL' on his watch too.

I think there has been a number of changes with personnel inside the club, think the youth set-up is run by someone completely new.

Seemed they used to have a great system set up .

Remember watching a program where they showed the room they had with plenty of staff just analyzing players with a set philosophy at the club

Graham Poll as usual backing the ref and saying definite foul.
Rafa Benitez: "I'll always keep in my heart the good times I've had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool. Southampton killed Southampton.

They acted like Billy big bollocks keeping VVD in the summer, despite selling players being their entire business model. As such they couldn't get any players to improve the team, so they just had a poor midtable team with your best player not wanting to be their, and their star striker of last year showing to just have a purple patch.

Actually if they had kept claude puel ...they would have stayed up this season. They became too greedy and sacked him and look what happens ....

You look at this Southampton side and while it's true they have no exceptional talents, they are still playing well below their levels due to a lack of organisation and low morale. Like with all premiership sides these days, always bargains to be had, hopefully our scouting doesn't conflate a player's level at his absolute worst mentally and in terms of the wider structure with what he can actually look like with a positive, clear  team. Don't think that aspect gets emphasised enough, it's not a computer game. Someone like Romeu was very highly rated when breaking through and even now, in this disjointed team you can see flashes of his quality in making low, hard passes through the lines, when defending. No need to be spending Van Dijk level money every time to fill a slot in the team / squad.

What do you expect though? They are a team who have sold all their really talented players, and then bought badly and screwed up their management process as well. It's hard to remember but before those owners came in, they were a well-run club who played the right kind of football and had a good youth system in place. They've been allowed to go to rack and ruin, that's the sadness of it. To be honest I would far rather the likes of Stoke and West Brom go down.
I agree with this but I think Southampton's model has always been to sell players. It did make an absolute hash with van Dijk's sale though, almost in a cut-the-off-nose-to-spite-the-face way.

But you're right-- rather Southampton stays in the league than the likes of Stoke, WBA and Everton.

I can kind of understand their viewpoint in a way though. It's easy for us to say they should have sold VVD straight away, but to their fans, it looks a very weak move. Sometimes clubs are keen to make it apparent that they're doing things on their terms. It's no different to us selling Coutinho, look how that went down at the time. Also, it has been their buying this season which has let them down, very little success with any of the players concerned.

Stoke he left there, Southampton he managed to cement in place when they had a chance of escaping

Poor FA Cup, that’s the most boring final possible.

It's like Moscow all over again excepting Mourinho is there and Terry and Ronaldo are not. On Balance (and I never thought I'd say this), I'd prefer Chelsea to win with Conte punching Jose's eyes out on the final whistle as Jose tries to;

a) Poke him in the eyes
b) Pull Conte's hair
c) Do a windmill attack on him as a sort of defence against an inevitable beating

Could someone wind them up please?

At least it takes Chelsea's mind off the league a bit
