Five us of heading over next weekend for the game. All between 25 and 30. Looking for possibly food and a few drinks Friday night, we won't be arriving until around 9.30. Any recommendations lads?

Somewhere with a bit of life but not full of a younger crowd if you get me.

Get yourselves into The Head of Steam, Hanover Street, plenty of decent ales, big enough to enjoy and your the right side of town for all the right places (except Concert Square, swerve that at all costs)

I prefer Castle St for avoiding kids and (therefore most of) the twats. Mostly smaller places than big bars you'd find the other side of town though, but can always walk to Mathew Street within a few mins if you want bigger places.

The Top end of Town is the best for a pub crawl.

Dispensary
Roscoe
Fly in the Loaf
The Pilgrim ( the shittest on the list )
The Phil
Ye Crack ( bit mad though )
The Belvidere
The Cali

Jump the bus to the Willow Bank.

Been years since Ive done that.

Ah. Now there's a place I've completely forgotten about . Haven't been there for moons. Another two in town Ive missed off the list are The Baltic Fleet and The Ship n Mitre. Its a shame they are the wrong end of town but deffo worth a session in them. Another cracking little boozer is the The Edinburgh in Wavertree  and their Irish trad nights on a Monday are boss.

Ive always felt a weird vibe in PK's for some reason. Sitting outside in the summer is ok though. A forgot a few things off my list as they aren't drinking related . A quick shop in Matta's and possibly take home something from Kimo's to munch on. Fuck it. Gonna do this at some point soon as I use to love it. Need to get me Madrid money in though so days off a rare.

Some absolute belters there, nothing better than starting in PK's on a Saturday afternoon and working your way back into town.

One pub not a million miles away, The Augustus John, I've always found to be a bit weird. Didnt help the first time I went in years ago the pint glass I was given was rotten.

That was always my preferred pub crawl. So many good pubs that side of town. Even the Pilgrim has its moments.

That's because it is a proper studie pub. I always liked drinking in there as a student though. Loads of nice ales, and cheap. Likewise the Cambridge is nice and cosy if you're looking for somewhere quiet.

I may pop in at some point but as I cycled past I noticed a big telly. I do prefer pubs without them being honest.

Yeah it shows the footy so has a lot of TVs in there, def more of a modern pub these days and attracts the office crowd from around there. Neil who owns it is a good red though.

His other, the Pig & Whistle, is a proper old quirky pub though with no TVs, etc. First Sat of every month they have the Sea Shanty Sessions which have been going on years apparently. We stumbled into it earlier this month without knowing it was on and there are some really good singers who turn up - although sounded more loads of Irish singing than anything else.

Woooooooaahh.. !!!! Sea Shanty sessions . What time ?

Love stuff like that. Can anyone get up and play ? Was in the Cali two weeks ago and every Tuesday a few arl fellas play trad stuff. I went over could I play a song and played I wish I was back home in Derry. Love pubs that still keep the arl traditions going. Me two great grandparents Paddy and Christina Murray use to play the pubs in the South End back in the day. He the accordion and she the piano.

Yeah they encourage people to have a go, and especially join in if you know the chorus to any songs. Not sure on time, it went on until after 12am though - just know it's the first Sat of each month.

Pretty much  ;D It's a decent pub but defo more your typical modern pub rather than oldy traditional one. I watch a lot of the football there and we do the pub quiz every week so I'm not too fussed by that personally though.

Nice one.

All I need is chords for the guitar and I'll join in. Going off memoery a lot of the trad songs consist of C , D and Em . Is right .

Edit.

Or perhaps C , D and G.  I cannee remember.
