Terrible call by the lino who advised the Ref. Johnston was the last man.

Foul was just outside the box, free kick given. Ref takes ages to decide what he should do. Lino is in his ear. But we had two players back, Hoever fouls their lad and Johnston is there within a half yard beyond the Brighton player. How the Lino can't see two players is beyond believable. Terrible decision for a Red. Yellow all day long.

Well of course you've got to follow up a great first term debut with a Red Card, you think hes gonna take stick from a fucking Junior any more?  ;D  follows like night and day...

What position does he play for the reserves? Considering this lad got signed to play in the U16's at the beginning of the season, and managed to get a triple promotion all the way to the first team in less than 6 months is something special.

I firmly believe he plays CB for the reserves.

He played CB and RB and one game at RW vs Everton. He profiles to play CB.

Holland seems prime for a new golden generation of players, so hopefully Hoever is one and we can find a few more.  Well over due.

He's a first year scholar so was signed for the u18s. Played right back/wing back for the u23s, monday was his first start at cb for them, more of an even split between there and cb for the u18/19s

I doubt he was expecting this when he signed in the summer. Big signal to young prospects that you’ll get a chance at this club if you’re good enough.

Currently with the dutch national u17 team for the euros, who seem to be favorites. Just scored the 3-0 against beligum in the quarters, seems to have quick feet as well:

Ki-Jana Hoever - Remember the name

Need a proper thread for this young sensation.
If we can't get some proper hype around a talent like this, then we have forgotten our ways.
I am sold that he is a superstar. No one can glide like that on the pitch with such ease, play balls out from behind like Van Dijk and look so calm and assured offensively and defensively and not be on the track to being a superstar.

The kid has the Beckenbauer about him. Screw you if you ask me to temper my expectations.

This is to discuss all things Ki-Jana.

He looks promising, I enjoyed his game against Wolves last season.

I think it's still too early for him to be challenging for a place but if we get a bit of an injury crisis or Clyne leaves and we have no backup to Arnold then he could get a look in.

The last I saw him was against Wolves he looked too "short" to me to aim to become a world class center back (imo)...

He has absolutely everything in his locker but he seems to have filled out a bit since that Wolves game. Just the way he was holding himself looked different. The way someone who just knows he's better than the people he's playing against would hold themself.

Cannot say enough positive things, the only thing I have to temper expectations a little is Ovie Ejaria, who at a similar stage of pre season looked like a world class midfielder in the making but never really kicked on. Don't see that happening with Hoever but of course it's early days.
Balotelli, Falcao, Cavani...

I'll be shocked if it's anyone other Etoo. Etoo or no-one. Simples.

In fact, I'll do you all a favor and ban myself from the January transfer window forum if we get anyone other than Etoo.

Problem with Ejaria was you were always worried whether his dribbling would be found out against better pressers. The way Hoever dribbles, shifting the ball with his left as well at times, that is elite level dribbling.
Also, agree with you, he looks like physically he has taken another step. Going to be some player.

Physically he looked out of his depth against Wolves but that's not surprising considering his age. But he just oozed class in that game. He'll initially come through as deputy to Trent (hopefully this season) but if he develops how we hope he'll be too good to play second fiddle to anyone. Very exciting.

He seems to have got a second quicker in his thinking, a touch more aggressive, since I last watched him. I don't think it was just the opposition being poor. It was more as if he could have taken longer because of their sluggishness, but didn't.

I can't believe he's only 17. I know the opposition last night was nothing special but he not only looks older in a physical sense, his intelligence is beyond the average 17 year old player. I think he could be below Trent next season as an option at right back. Like a lot of the Ajax youth products he can play a couple of positions, but I'm more excited to see him at full back.
