These are ordinary as fuck. We should be back above these this season and hopefully United too, and all things considered I don't think Arsenal are any better than us. We should be 3rd minimum but could do better.

I think we're mentally stronger than Arsenal, primarily on the basis of experience but mainly the manager.

Doesn't need saying, but Klopp obviously has the backbone and nerve that Arteta doesn't have. That's worth a good one or two places higher in the table.

Aside from City with their cheating billions, nothing will come close to a rejuvenated Klopp.

To think that they walk past this every home game. Every one of them will want to either get their first trophy added or add to their total. Mad to think Jurgen just needs to turn the 3 into a 4 and he's won the lot.

Need the CWC in there.
That should become much higher valued by us. Just as we make the League our priority, we need to make the CWC our 2nd priority.

I dunno mate. Are they?
I'll check that out.

Here we go. From Wiki. And when's that never been 100% accurate?

On 16 December 2022, FIFA announced an expanded tournament that would have 32 teams and start in June 2025.[129][131][132] The International Federation of Professional Footballers and World Leagues Forum both immediately criticized the proposal.[129] On 23 June 2023, FIFA confirmed that the United States will host the 2025 tournament as a prelude to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.[133] The 32 teams will be divided into 8 groups of 4 teams with the top 2 teams in each group qualifying to the knockout stage. The FIFA Council also unanimously approved the concept of an annual club competition from 2024, in response to the fact that the FIFA Club World Cup will be held for the last time in its current guise in 2023.[134]

Going backwards this year will be interesting to watch. There is an assumption that you are always on an upwards momentum if you have money, it has not been true for Everton, United or Chelsea and Newcastle (for all their spending) still feel like an upper mid table squad. Brighton (and us to a degree) have shown it's not just big names and big fees in football.
Newcastle's response to a mid table finish and being dumped out of europe early would be interesting to watch as they need that momentum of progress to help release resources for players. They will be putting all their efforts into commercial deals now on the back of those CL games (expect all sorts of freebie invites to those 3 CL home games). Any commercial investor would not want to be tied to a mid table club with no trophies.
We all know that City took a short cut to get to the top (it's called cheating) and that road has become harder to go down after seeing City and Everton get charged. My hopes for this season (aside from us and Everton) mainly relate to Newcastle and Chelsea failing (I've given up City failing, I just want long term injuries there to key players really, nothing nasty, just 12 months out will do)

They will no doubt start picking up the dour wins again once their fixture list becomes a bit kinder but it's funny to see them reel off three defeats on the bounce after that opening day success.
It will be a bit of both.

They will certainly win, but won't catch teams off guard.

Add in the 6 very hard games for the CL and it's a lot of ask of a small squad with little quality depth.

In some ways they would almost have been better not finishing top four last season. It’s given them all thoughts and expectations way above where they are actually in reality. They were always going to suffer this season when reality hits home. Transitioning from the hard working, scrappy, plucky team they were last year into a dominant team is no easy task and they will learn this the hard way over the next few seasons.

They are quite a weird bunch though. Best mate is a fan and endlessly bangs on about Klopp hating them. I have no idea what he is on about most of the time, but it will be a long time until they escape this small club mentality.
You said, I think I'm like Tennessee Williams, I wait for the click, I wait but it doesn't kick in
