Going backwards this year will be interesting to watch. There is an assumption that you are always on an upwards momentum if you have money, it has not been true for Everton, United or Chelsea and Newcastle (for all their spending) still feel like an upper mid table squad. Brighton (and us to a degree) have shown it's not just big names and big fees in football.
Newcastle's response to a mid table finish and being dumped out of europe early would be interesting to watch as they need that momentum of progress to help release resources for players. They will be putting all their efforts into commercial deals now on the back of those CL games (expect all sorts of freebie invites to those 3 CL home games). Any commercial investor would not want to be tied to a mid table club with no trophies.
We all know that City took a short cut to get to the top (it's called cheating) and that road has become harder to go down after seeing City and Everton get charged. My hopes for this season (aside from us and Everton) mainly relate to Newcastle and Chelsea failing (I've given up City failing, I just want long term injuries there to key players really, nothing nasty, just 12 months out will do)
