watched dortmund away to bayern and i have to say sahin impressed me, i've seen figures branded about at around 8 million and if the madrid deal happens its great buisness for them as it would be for any side who got him for that amount of money. what impressed me most about him was his use of the ball, played the right pass more often than not and was always lookin forward with his passing, something i think the current liverpool central midfield is lacking in so for me if we could do i deal i hope were looking at him

From what I've seen of this player and if Mourinho wants to have a solid 4-3-3 then I can understand him preferring Sahin plus someone else (like Khedira) instead of Khedira and Lass in front of Alonso. Khedira and Lass are not box-to-box midfielders, and that means one option less to get forward. Sahin looks a very good link link between midfield and forwards.

It's a bad move for him I think, there's a lot of talent rotting away at Madrid and he could end up being another to join that little club.
Would sacrifice Fordy in a sacred Mayan ritual to have him as the next Liverpool manager

Agree completely and there are so many victims of Real Madrid so I don't see how still, young talented players wants to go to them. There are so many better options for them to make their carreer better, in Sahin's case; stay with Dortmund for one more year and experience Champions League where he knows he feels comfortable and where he knows he'll have an important role.

The grass isn't always greener..

I think he was brought in as cover for Alonso, they look a very different side without him and really miss him when he is not there.

If Mourinho wants a solid 4-3-3 who's he going to drop out of Di Maria, Ozil, Cristiano and Higuain/Benzema? Because i'm pretty sure he'll want to play with at least 1 DM (Khedira/Lass/whoever)

Why are people stating its a bad career move. You could say the same about Ozil, with Di Maria, Ronaldo, Kaka, Higuain all there, and hes outshone nearly all of them (probably bar Ronaldo). Wait a year before you criticize his move because no one has any idea how it will turn out.

Wouldn't be an internet forum if we didn't pre-guess and relish in predictions.

Dortmund announce press conference on Monday likely to be about the transfer of Sahin to real. Signing of İlkay Gündoğan already tells the story. Huge loss for Dortmund. Losing Sahin at any price would have been bad enough, but losing him for a fraction of what he's worth...

Not starting today.
He's been ruled out for the season due to an injury a little while ago

Kicker running with the story now, €10m.

I think Alonso/Sahin/Ozil will work very well in all honesty. If they want to move to the next level and try to beat Barca at their own game, they've obviously got to build a team that can keep the ball just as well. Diarra and Gago are pretty much nailed on to leave, and I think Granero will probably go too, so it leaves Khedira, and Pepe/Albiol to fill in when need be as competition (Maybe Parejo if Getage go down).

He'll get plenty of game time. He won't 'rot on the bench'.

Massive blow to Dortmund's hopes of establishing a long-lasting opposition to Bayern's dominance. By far their most important player.
Can't believe he didn't want to sign a new contract without a clause and see if Real would pay the actual price he's worth. That money is worth a lot more to Dortmund than it is to Real.

It's quite disappointing. Same with Neuer, you would think they would care a little more about their clubs. And this is why no club in Germany can stand against Bayern for long.

Mourinho will use a 4-2-3-1 as well. He always uses two systems at least and both suit the players. Whenever he used 4-3-3 he often employed Lass, Khedira and Alonso which doesn't make too much sense because Khedira doesn't provide much in the build up and Lass is far worse than he looks at this. So, from what I've seen Sahin is a great option in that system and when Alonso is missing as well.

Bullsh*t. Dortmund didn't even want him anymore when he came back from Rotterdam, but now he should bow down for them? Don't think so.

He's pretty much playing the same role as Alonso and he's the more complete player. Would've loved him here..

Wow, Madrid have options, no?

Alonso - Sahin
        Ozil

      Khedira
Alonso -  Sahin

Not to mention Gago, Diarra, Canales...

A three of Khedira-Sahin-Alonso is a very very well oiled machine. If they had a destroyer instead of Khedira I would be very suprised if they didn't smash everything. Two "deep lying playmakers" and a destroyer.  :lickin

Just a shame they're managed by a massive massive bellshine.

MADRID, May 9 (Reuters) - Real Madrid have signed Turkey midfielder Nuri Sahin from Borussia Dortmund on a six-year contract as coach Jose Mourinho began strengthening his squad for next season.

Playmaker Sahin, 22, joined Dortmund in 2008 and helped steer them to this season's German league title. He will join the La Liga giants as they seek to end Barcelona's grip on the domestic title and chase a 10th triumph in the Champions League.

Sahin, who has missed his team's last three matches through injury and is expected to be out for six weeks, said he was very proud to make the move to the Spanish capital.

"The decision was hard to take. I am Borussia and will remain Borussia. I will miss Dortmund," he told reporters on Monday.

Spanish media reported on Monday that Real were also looking to buy Bayern Munich midfielder Hamit Altintop, another Turkish international.

Gago is as good as gone, and I expect Canales to leave on loan as well. Been watching a little bit of Sahin and no matter how trusted Khedira and Lass are, the turk looks way too talented not to have a main role in this side. Plus in a league where the second best team can score 6 in Sevilla and Valencia, Alonso and Sahin just seem enough to compete in 75% of games.

Now Mourinho will try to outplay Barcelona instead of kicking them. I can envisage a midfield of Kaka, Alonso and Sahin, with Khedira, Pepe and Lass on the bench. He just didn't have the players.
