Very good stuff. I think their plan was to play a compact, relatively high line and spot opportunities to press (such as Brahimi on TAA), then counterpunch. Early on we found a way through this by several good long balls from Virgil or Lovren and maybe they exposed that we don't have a playmaker in midfield, since opportunities were missed in that regard (Porto were passive between the lines).

In all honesty, though, they couldn't deal with the pace out wide and Mane's been the key man in that regard. In fact, had he shown a little more footballing intelligence, I think we'd have created more and maybe scored another goal.

Excellent anyway, Gini is providing excellent running and good coverage. Hendo has been solid in a metronomic way and I've been very pleased for Robertson, who has been diligent defensively and supportive of the attack.

90% of our possession has been among our back 4. Porto are staying in a solid formation but not doing much. I wasn't sure what our midfield were doing as they weren't doing a lot on the ball; however they are keeping the game tight.

Up front Mane still isn't at his best but nice to see a goal for him.

Milner unlucky to hit the post but what about Salah's goal. He made it look like a stroll and it wasn't.

Let's keep the game tight and keep it at 2 or even 3 nil.

Very pleasing half that. Would love to see Lallana get 30 minutes and let Mane have a rest. A win would be fantastic but I'd have taken a draw before the game.

Oh btw, can anyone explain if there's a good reason Henderson is so often positioned in the shadow of the opponent and hence unable to receive the ball, or is he just a bit off in that regard?

That sliding tackle by Milner was sheer class, great decision to put him in the team tonight, has been a calming influence. We just have keep it tight, they will need to score keep compact and hit them on the break.

So far so good. They seem to get through our midfield a bit easily, but we have coped well enough.
Salah is great. Mane working hard, got his goal, still not fully in form though.

Solid, composed performance.

Marega and Brahimi are individual threats, but as long as don't fart in the brain, we should add another one or two and keep the clean sheet.

Their insistence on short square passes in the back and defensive midfield will give us 3 or 4 more chances, I think. They're playing a very risky game for the conditions

The only one I saw from an angle where you could really tell, it was actually in. First one definitely looked like it had swung out from the main camera angle.
