From the BBC.

At least nine people have been killed in a series of explosions on the Indonesian resort island of Bali.

Many others were reported to have been injured in the blasts at Kuta beach - the area most popular with Western tourists - and at Jimbaran beach.

There is no word yet on what caused the blasts which happened just before 2000 local time (1200GMT).

Nearly three years ago, 202 people died in nightclub bomb attacks blamed on Islamic extremists.

According to the Associated Press news agency, a Bali police spokesman was unable to say whether the explosions had been caused by bombs.

"There have been some explosions in Jimbaran and Kuta area, but we cannot give any details," Lt Col Antonius Reniban said. "Police are still investigating."

Local El Shinta radio said witnesses saw at least three bloodied foreigners at Jimbaran beach - which is lined with seafood restaurants frequented by tourists.

Another witness in Jimbaran told Metro TV "It's very crowded, people are still being evacuated."

He added that the blast took place close to the Four Seasons Hotel.

3 years on, the nightmare returns. Looks to be less lethal this time around, but it is still disgusting.

Sick, sick fucks.

Innocent people killed. An islands livelyhood all but destroyed (cant see the tourists returning after 2 incidents?), the muslim religion once again being undermined by fanatical animals.

Sick, Sick fucks.

cant see the tourists returning after 2 incidents?

Clearly, this has been the topic on conversation for me and Mrs Millsee this evening. After the devestation 2 years ago, and now this, allegedly purportrated by the same people. We booked our honeymoon to Bali only last Saturday - thankfully, not to this resort, but Bali is of course only a small island.

I'm in London tomorrow for a mate's party. There were bombings in London only a few weeks ago and surely, if I allow myself to be dictated to, I would be scared and refuse to go.

On the other hand, should I insist that I live my life how I want to live it? Should I go to paradise islands that I have always wanted to travel to? Or should I abandon all this for the sake of some pathetic individuals carrying out childish and petulant acts of violence in the name of their religion. I mean, is Islam not a fundamentally peaceful religion? And is this then, not the same as the crusades of the early years AD who believed they had a god-given right to crucify, torture and murder those who did not follow their ways?

No. This is not "muslim" terrorism and this is not where I bow down to their demands.

This is where I draw the line. I refuse to be scared any more. I refuse to allow myself to be intimidated into the loss of my liberty in the name of "terrorism". I refuse to allow these c*nts to say where and when I should travel. I refuse.

I WILL be going to Bali. Fuck knows, they need my cash. If I get blown up in a bomb - so be it. Some would say the world would be a better place, but hey, at least I saw paradise before I went.

Millsee, good on you for fulfilling your booking. I hope the island of Bali does not suffer unduly from this 2nd attack, but I'm pretty sure it will.

Whilst both London and Bali have suffered at the hands of these animals , I dont think you can use the two as a valid comparison. You're going to London for a specific event thats been organised there. Going to Bali is a choice people make, from one of many locations around the world.

People often fear what they do not know or understand. Whilst the locals of Bali will regroup and carry on in the same fashion as London, the tourists will more than likely exercise their options and choose to go elsewhere for a holiday because they see it as the easiest and safest option, somewhere where they wont be on edge and wondering if they're at risk of a terroist attack. This, obviously, will have a huge impact on an area thats reliant on tourism

What a pathetic thing to say. What on earth has aid for Tsunami victims got to do with a small group of Islamic radicals?

For gods sake these guys need all the help they could get after the tsunami, and now that one of their biggest industries has been hit then this will cause huge damage to them.

And also the people behind this probably weren't from Indonesia - just like with September 11. And the government cannot find all the crazy people, and even if they were crazy and they knew it they couldnt imprison them if they hadnt done anything.

Anyway - why Bali? Is it because there are many westerners there and it is closer than Britain or the US?

Indonesia has a huge Islamic population, so for the small disaffected few within their ranks, Bali is an easy but high profile target. Bit like London I guess, with the "home grown" British muslims that carried out those attacks.

It attracts a lot of westerners yes, esp Aussies. The logic of these people is coimpetely dumbfounding, ruining the tourist economy will achieve nothing but economic despair for Bali and therefore Indonesia. I can;t imagine a world where a terrorist would want to live, after all it is not wanting to live they crave so it makes no sense either way you look at it, sad bastards.

As has been mentioned, a large reason for this will be the large numbers of Australians that travel there, but it is also a backlash against the Indonesians (part of the largest Muslim country in the world) who choose to attract westerners, whose way of life is seen as abominable, into their land.

Thats why they wont have a problem if tourism in Bali dies out due to bombings like this, they would say that the locals brought it upon themselves.
