Electric Power Shower
« on: April 4, 2023, 10:18:30 am »
Looking to get a new bathroom and currently running a 10.5kw electric shower. Pressure is decent enough but could be better.

We don’t have a combi boiler so wondered if someone technical could explain how we can get a power shower.

I think electric power showers exist but not sure how good.

Thanks,

Nick
No, jazz. You fear jazz. You fear the lack of rules, the lack of boundaries. Oh look, it's a fence. But, no, it's soft.

Power showers are run off your stored hot and cold water and you need a cold water storage tank and a hot water cylinder ,Power showers cannot be taken off mains pressure hot or cold water . You also need to have a water tank above the height of the shower head  ( some older properties have there cold storage tank in cupboards .

The pros of a power shower is they are a really powerful shower as good as you can get , the cons are they can be noisy , don’t last too long use a lot of water ( if your metered ) and if you’ve no hot water then it’s no shower .

If your going for a new bathroom then maybe go with a pumped mixer valve , looks a lot nicer and the pump can be sited somewhere away from the bathroom .

If your looking for a new replacement electric shower then the Mira sport air boost is decent , they do a 10.8 kw one with the addition of being able to use a small air pump that aerates the water creating a feeling of a bit more power .

May as well shamelessly plug my own website 😀 with a small video of the Mira air boost on it
