If its going in and it takes a deflection and still goes in, that is a goal.

If it is going out and it take a deflection and goes in, that's an own goal.

Both of those are irrelevant in this case though because the shot wasn't going in to begin with, own goal.

It can take a thousand deflections as long as after every one of them the ball is going in, if one little deflection has the ball going out of the goal, own goal.

100% own goal. The officials would lose their jobs had it been chalked off as anything other.

Take nothing away from the free kick, the lad has class.

I think he’ll have every opportunity to earn a squad role in the preseason with us. I still think it’s likely we get a decent fee for Wilson, and all the media outlets are suggesting shaq will be off. Origi, Minamino, Brewster as backup forward options.
If we do bring in one backup wide forward with pace then surely it’d be another loan for him, but I also think it would serve all parties for him to get used to playing and training from wide positions.

If we aren't buying a forward in the summer (a possibility) I wonder if Brewster will be brought back or sent on loan again.

No, he needs to play. So another loan deal makes sense. We will still have Origi and minamino.

Gatzel needs to play in the under 23 but he can step up if required.

After next season then Brewster should apart of the squad full time as I would have thought Origi will be leaving.

Have to say Fordy, the idea that you’ve got some encyclopedic knowledge of Liverpool players somewhat falls down when you don’t know even how to spell their names correctly.
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Based on how he's done and the position he plays in, it's fair to assume he's ahead of Harry Wilson.
Mark my words. Top 8 will be a massive struggle.
We won't make any big signings this season and we will go back to being a top4 club.

Think that’s a possibility.

There obviously isn’t going to be much a pre-season for Klopp to have a look at him when he does come back to us. But it looks like the transfer window will be open until October and there has been talk of it being left open for longer for EFL clubs, so it could be that we keep him here into the start of next season and wait to see if we do any business late in the window before deciding whether he’s ready to play a part for us or if another loan would be beneficial.

EH...What you been smoking?

                                                  Appearances     Goals
2018   →            Hull City (loan)                   13     (7)
2018–2019   → Derby County (loan)   40   (15)
2019–   → Bournemouth (loan)           23    (7)

Brewster is an talent and I rate him highly but the only thing is he does play in the central position that he had a better chance because he can overtake or replace a few of the back ups we have but based on the stats above he hasn't proved himself like Wilson has.

7  goals in a poor Bournemouth team is good going.

I’d say so.

Better technically, better suited to how we play, better off the ball. Brewster is the better player for me and definitely has the higher ceiling in terms of potential.

If he does come back full time next season, will he take Origi's role as 'fourth option'?

If he does I can see Divock moving out (possibly on loan)

It's a tough one, and I think a loan will depend on outgoings and incoming.

If for example, Shaq leaves and we don't replace him then I think it would be good for Brewster to stay for the 1st half of the season. He will most likely get some game time - especially in the league Cup alongside training with the 1st team. He can then go out on loan in Jan and put into practice what he has learned.

Developing under the coaching team alongside champion players will be just as important as game time, especially if we think he has a future here and not just a saleable asset.
Some clubs were always destined for greatness...

I think Brewster is still feeling his way back to full fitness. A top physio said after a serious knee or ankle injury you aren't going to see the best of a player for a year and this doesn't include the rehabilitation period. So essentially you aren't going to see the best of a player until a year after they are fully fit. It's a matter of player learning to fully trust his/her body again before going full out without fear of breaking down.

The reason I mention this is Brewster was really good at shifting the ball in tight areas (which puts a lot of strain on the ankles) and now he is running more or less in straight lines. I think when Brewster fully gets to grips with being fully fit again you will see the best of him.

Wilson is ok but not at the standard we need. I doubt he will improve too much either.
Brewster isn’t good enough to replace origi yet. Needs another loan to see if he will be up to standard as well.
Schadenfreude. Pretty much sums me up.

He’s an interesting player...

To be on free kicks at his age is odd.  So he must be doing something right in training.

He’s a goal scorer too.  He’s a really good turn and shot on him...

Does he have the change of pace you need to be a top half of the PL striker?  Maybe not,  but he will be a really good pro at a high level, because he’s got game intelligence, he strong and knows where the back of the net is.

Given that he plays as a striker  and we don’t really play that way, I wonder if that will be with us.  He’s not an Origi replacement though.  Origi runs the wide areas, is massive and does have a change of pace (although frequently doesn’t use it well).

Swansea could play for the next week and Brewster wouldn't get a sniff of a chance from open play.

Take him and Conor Gallagher away and they're a very, very average Championship team.

Not watching this game, but the few times I've seen them he's been completely isolated. The fact that he's scoring at a 1 in 2 rate is very impressive given how Swansea play.

Difficult to tell as he's playing in a really poor side and I imagine still not 100% after his horrific injuries which I believe required 4 operations. Hopefully gets a good loan in the PL next year and shines.

Don’t think so, the physio gave the thumbs up.... he hurt it last game he played, probably nicked a shoulder muscle... they can hurt like hell.

He is the reason why Swansea still have any hope of a play-off place so hopefully whatever damage was done to his shoulder isn't serious.

I live near there and the Swansea supporters I know have all said he's on another level to the rest of their players, that his movement and intelligence off the ball are exceptional but they just don't have creative enough players to make the most of it. He's shown he can finish, he could be really prolific with more regular and better quality service.

hope he can make the step up and loaned out to an epl club next season if klopp believes he still need some experience. Or maybe he have a storming pre season and be back up to our front 3 replacing divock as the current back up.

he does look like always in the right place at the right time for his goals. pretty clinical as well.
