robbie fowler

Would NEVER have played for that lot. Fowler would rather have played in league one than for Utd and therein lies the difference.

Not sure about being a red at heart but he is up there with the worst commentators/pundits.  Absolutely clueless with an obvious lack of research.

So true. Whats also obvious is that he doesn't watch a lot of football. Maybe a super sunday or MOTD, but like Lawrenson etc he probably never watches a game outside of the prem which is the reason for all his cringe worthy, cliche views.

We didn't do too badly without him,

He went on to do fuck all after he left

Yet people still have this animosity about the whole thing.

he was a great player in his time, seems like a decent enough bloke on tv and i thought that interview was alright. A lot of angry people on here, try exercise.

Sorry I've got no time for this fella whatsoever. Amazed myself that I even read the article.
Has Steven Gerrard scored a goal even more important than the one he got against Olympiakos - Is this the start of something BIG?

One of the first truly modern footballers this lad

No allegiance whatsoever, only to his own career, which renders him just a goals v games footnote

I don't really have any opinion either way, which probably says it all

I have to say I agree with pretty much all of this. Can never forget the FA cup final and the carnage that followed it, which he played a big part in. In terms of being a legend he fucked that right up and was vomit-inducing to see him turn out for THEM...

But, well, life's too short... Don't really give a fuck anymore!

Onwards and upwards.  :wave  :hally

We saw the best of him. At times he was very good.
After leaving us he was just an injury waiting to happen.
Life's too short to bear grudges.
Better to concentrate on winning the league.

If he had Liverpool in his blood then why only allow us to get a pathetic £8m quid for him (+ Nunez)....

Whatever people think of him, the reason we only got £8m was because Parry was an incompetent shitehawk who allowed his contract to run down after having been approached by his agent to renew, Parry just let things run on, Real Madrid bought him cheap and sold him for twice the price, they had us by the balls because of that prick Parry. He did the same with McManaman didn't he? Moores was too stupid to understand what was going on.
Don't think it would happen now after the Suarez saga.

To me, he will always look like a failed Take That auditionee. Probably rejected due to a total lack of personality.

It can be seen from miles away that he's only saying that 'cause no other of his former clubs have time for him. And what someone said here about him trying to build a media profile as "Liverpool's Michael Owen" instead of "Michael "that one goal against Argentina" Owen" is very true. Can't say I like him, almost everytime the glass man has been injured he's blamed it on us. And how snob can you get that he can't "lower" himself to play in the Championship, Christ.

In short, an utter idiot.

That being said, anyone saying "oh you weren't that good for us" or generally undervaluing his football contribution to the club while he was here is talking absolute dogshite. He was fantastic, and (not my case) Liverpool got many fans just by them being mesmerized by an incredible player in his prime. Let's not kid ourselves with revisionism.

Most people are saying the same thing here: he was a good little player when he started and I, for one, was glad he was playing for us in Cardiff in 2001.  Even then,  I cannot say he was really "loved" in the same way that God or Gary Mac (of his contemporaries) were. Perhaps because he has always been a boring middle class personality and seemed more intent on his International career than playing for Liverpool.

His true colours were shown by the way he screwed us in his move to Madrid and from then on he has been "dead" to me.  I didn't really care when he went to Newcastle cos he was clearly past his best and I didn't want him back.  His move to United just reaffirmed my opinion of his being a selfish little prick, who would stoop to play for anyone that he didn't feel was beneath him.

His recent statements are, I think, borne out of a tinge of regret that he is not, and never will be, a Liverpool legend....tough Shit Michael. You made your bed ...............

The man's a fucking moron, the fact that he thinks that moving to United is the only reason so many of our lot passionately despise him sums him up.

Didn't even read the article but felt the need to come in and say I will always think he is a giant bellend (no matter how much BT tries to get him to be loved by all).

Still leading my short list of despised ex reds, comfortably ahead of both Torres and Diouf.
Let us never forget Rafael Benitez and what he did for us. A fighter full of guts and passion. A gentleman full of class and dignity. A football manager full of intelligence and pure genius. A Legend.
Adios Rafa, buena suerte.

This is pathetic. He probably realises that he's irrelevant to the fans of every club he's ever played for and now is looking for some sort of appreciation and club "home". Probably thought we'd be a soft touch and also because he was only ever good when he played for us.

Piss off Owen, you're irrelevant.

I thought he had written for the S*n but I found this:

michael owen        ✔ @themichaelowen

"Okay, let's set the record straight. I am not, nor will I be in the future, working as a columnist or writing articles for the Sun newspaper"

That was back in June. So fair enough.

Have lost all respect for him following his manc move, but ask any Geordie how they feel about his time there.
It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.
