Enjoyed the AFQ football, and the new backpage episode.

Having heard the Gary Neville v Arsenal fans live during the game what seemed to annoy him the most was that the fan had brought the banner into the ground in the first place in the hope of a bad result which really isn't productive.

Just listened to the cup of tea with Tony Evans and thought Andy was excellent as host and at challenging Tony's views on things.

Got to agree with others who said he contradicted himself throughout.  Didn't find him necessarily completely negative, but flip flopped on various things as the show went on.
I think his input was much better as the show wen't on, cause at the beginning he was simply Mr Negative.

I like the branching out into more general football matters, it feels fluid and is still excellent content.

How about a show on XI's?

Not normally a fan of The Pink but thought Saturday's episode was good.

Gibbo was funny and just about coherent but really thought Philippa and Charlotte were great on it. Never heard Charlotte on TAW before. If that was her 1st show then it was a cracking debut. Spoke really confidently and made a few decent points throughout.
I think Jookie might just be the best fisherman on this thread.

Surprised in Wildcards by Neil's sweeping judgements about the non London South. I usually fully agree with his objections to the shite stereotyping that Liverpool as a city and Liverpool fans have to endure. As someone from one of those non London southern areas, I'd like to assure him we aren't all knuckle dragging, Steve Claridge loving, Tory voters. I found the 'must be based in Liverpool' part of the discussion hard to listen to. Surely it's all dependent on what the job requires?

If a key part of the job requires commercial dealings, meetings etc, and the vast majority of decision makers from the partners you're wishing to do business with are based elsewhere, surely it makes complete sense to base yourselves closer? Cost is irrelevant, largely, it's about saving time, convenience etc. If this is against the wishes of Liverpool fans, and the previous statement isn't complete hogwash in regard to the discussion, then it seems it's the fan's wishes that are the issue here and are what makes it harder for the 'CEO' or whoever to do their job.

If your job is to scout players in South America, it doesn't make sense to travel from Liverpool everyday.

The discussion, specifically, was about the CEO

Yep, but think it's fair to say it went slightly off on a tangent? Maybe that was just me, fine if so, but point is - has Ayre ever been based outside of Liverpool? If not, what's the concern if it was specifically around the CEO?

Essentially, it evolved into the leadership team and it being fractured, at least geographically, between Liverpool, London and Boston.

No one is saying that EVERY employee should be based in Liverpool, but the MD (Ayre's pre CEO position) now being based in London it's a little bit strange.

IMO, its complicated enough for one of the worlds leading clubs to effectively have to work on a -5 hour time shift when big decisions have to be made, let alone having the MD and CEO at opposite ends of the country.

The MD (or CEO, whatever we end up with) should really be based in Liverpool given it's a hands on role (as opposed to a Chairman/Owner which isn't really a day to day hands on role).

I'm not sure if Hogan as MD is a temporary role until the position is filled in the summer (when I assume the person we want becomes available), in which case we can probably survive him being London based until then, but I'd like to see the new guy be in Liverpool for sure.

If he was more often than not getting on a train/flying down south then I don't think it makes a lot of difference.

Just re the bolded part, I know - and my scout analogy was admittedly (a little ?) facetious. That said - surely where the role is based is down to what the nature of the role entails? If it's based in Liverpool to appease a desire for the City to be recognised as capable as any other city (which it is), rather than to enable the occupier to do the job to the best of his ability - ie, using the least time to travel etc, I really don't see the point - and seems counter-productive.

To be clear, this isn't about London & Liverpool, simply location. Ultimately, we all want the club to be successful. If the CEO's/MD's/Whoever's role in that is to bring in the most cash from sponsorships/partnerships so Jurgen can bring in the best players, do we care where they're based? Why? The most important thing is that there's a team stepping out in Liverpool every other week that's funded to the best of the ability of the people that work at the club.

Of course, all of the above is utter nonsense if the vast majority of the MD role has no, or minimal, involvement in commercial dealings. Similarly if those counterparties involved in the deals aren't, in the majority, based away from Liverpool.

I'd personally say the most senior day to day employee. Technically the Chairman would be the most senior official, but given that's really not going to be a day to day role it's not really something which requires being here.
