I'm delighted to see Woodburn on the teamsheet, his thread is locked for good reason because debate and expectation must be tempered. However  :)  in his last little cameo when he scored I was fascinated by his positioning relative to the ball being moved round the pitch, his movement looked really intelligent.

This game is going to be tough, but hopefully a little treat for us. Can't wait now.

I love this man we've got in charge. On 5Live talking about the line-up.

"I wanted players greedy for the opportunity this game. But this is the strongest bench I've ever had in my life!"

he's not wrong! was hoping we'd have a player on there who could benefit from sub minutes (like wilson), but we've got so many young players out there the options were limited. shame for grujic he's still injured

happy with the team, and happy i managed to call it for once! think can starting says that we're confident henderson is fit for the next two, and i think klavan not starting means we aren't so certain about matip - but that's a discussion for the next two games!

Wilson isn't even on the bench. No idea what he can do to get a chance.
Was expecting him and Dunn to have been on bench.

I really don't know what more Wilson can do. He's been absolutely exceptional in the reserves.

Was hoping Klavan would start but no surprises or real complaints about the team.

Delighted to see Gomez and Ojo back in the first-team starting, really looking forward to seeing Alexander-Arnold, Ejaria and Woodburn again too.  Excited for the game, hopefully it's another step in the right direction for these players toward more regular involvement under Klopp.

Good to see Klopp has gone with a strong bench. Only so many youngsters can have a chance so if Wilson got a chance it may have meant Woodburn dropping out. Klopp will certainly give the youngsters a game and having that experienced bench means that if any chestnuts need pulling out of the fire the tongs are available.

Super excited to see the youth. Hopefully they do well. Time to settle down with a nice glass of red.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

Completely new and somewhat makeshift CB pairing is the only concern here against a very physical Plymouth side but quite delighted in seeing Ojo and Jomez finally back.. Also wow at the bench.

Don't understand why people are questioning Wilson's non-inclusion. Yeah, he may be doing great in the reserves, but there's many factors that come in to it. Now I'm not suggesting at all he has an attitude problem, but a player's attitude etc. is a big factor into when they're introduced into the first team. Even if you look at our past scouts (and managers) talking about bringing players in to the club, they talk a lot about having the right profile - including attitude, workrate in training, time-keeping etc. Established first team players are usually given a bye in this regard (unless you're Sakho ;D), but as a young player, if you're not nailing every aspect, you're unlikely to be picked in the first team squad - whether performing to your highest standard in the reserves or not. Again, I'm not suggesting Wilson has a problem, but there are reasons like these which makes the fans question the decision on the face of it, but in reality we don't know anything about what's going on behind the scenes, the lad could've picked up a knock in training or showed up late to training for the last week - we really have no clue.

same here too..lucas would be quite a decent choice on the bench as he could play both DM and centre of defence. Could free up a place for one of the youngsters as well.

Kind of worried about wilson situation. Doesnt seem to get any look in at the moment.

That squad is a balanced mix of youth and experience. Lucas and Can to guide the youngsters.

The youngest team in Liverpool history and still we want more  ;D WE are as greedy Kloppo wants his team to be!

Wilson will get his chance if he's got all the tools.

Only so many that can be brought in at a time, cos it involves them being in 1st team training on a regular basis too, not just a case of sticking them in the team.

Love how these young lads are getting the chance.

And remember that to do this, places need to be available for them in the squad, which is what is happening with Gomez, i.e. no new central defender being brought in, so that there is room for Gomez.  Same thing happened with TAA, Flannagan allowed to go on loan, cos the manager already had confidence that he has the right player to cover Clyne. Same will happen if he feels Woodburn is good enough, a space will be kept in the squad for him.

I'm so excited about Gomez though. Not to liken him to a Manc mate of ours, but he looked a lot like young Rio Ferdinand to me - in his athletic ability, pace, positioning and aggression. Could easily be a stalwart for us for years to come. He looks like he's packed on about 4kg of pure muscle just in his arms too! Decent at picking a pass too, so I'm excited to see him in a Klopp style team.

Your being obnoxious. Bangor are a tragic side, I have a mate who plays for them and he is genuinely poor. so stop harping on about Wilson scoring a hatty against some semi pros and enjoy the fact this is our youngest ever side full of highly promising youngsters.

i just think noone understands what your sentence meant. they think you're having a go at wilson. but maybe you meant "shame for him", instead of "shame on him"
