Wenger, once again, shows a pathetic lack of class. No, boys, this level of football is not for you.

 :lmao well said mate
He's a manipulative bastard. Another deliberate attempt to put pressure on people in the game, which he thinks he'll get away with because of his "standing" in the game and his fucking knighthood.

Arsene Wenger blamed the referee and his own defence for Arsenal's 4-2 defeat in an astonishing Champions League quarter-final at Liverpool.

The Gunners were seven minutes away from advancing to the semi-finals on the away goals rule after scoring to take the score to 2-2 on the night, but went out 5-3 on aggregate after two late Liverpool goals.

A controversial penalty award by Swedish referee Peter Frojdfeldt for a tug on Ryan Babel by Kolo Toure saw Steven Gerrard score the crucial goal to put Liverpool 3-2 ahead with five minutes to play.

To rub salt into Wenger's wounds, Arsenal had an identical appeal for a penalty dismissed in the first leg at the Emirates Stadium last week when Liverpool held them to a 1-1 draw in London.

"We have a feeling of disappointment and injustice. At the moment it is difficult because the whole dressing room is down," Wenger said.

"The game is over for us. It was down to a dodgy decision, I believe, from the referee.

"Over the two games it was difficult to swallow. It was a double disappointment because all the big decisions went against us.

"We have to live with that. Sometimes you have to swallow the unswallowable. It is difficult to understand for me.

"It was never a penalty. I have watched it clearly again, but last week it was definitely a penalty."

Wenger felt his defence played a part in Arsenal's downfall as Sami Hyypia was allowed a free header to equalise Abou Diaby's opener and Fernando Torres found time to turn and score his side's second. After Gerrard's penalty, Babel completed the scoring with a stoppage-time fourth.

"We had so much control but we were naive and we lacked a bit defensively," Wenger added.

"The defeat was not down to mental strength though, it was down to a lack of experience defensively.

"We made big mistakes and we conceded a goal from a corner and on the second goal we gave Fernando Torres too much room."

Arsenal have now won just two of their last 12 games and only have the Premier League title to chase. They are six points behind leaders Manchester United with five games to play.

Wenger believes a series of poor decisions and injuries to key players have affected his side.

"The team is sick. We feel everything is going against us.

"We lacked that extra bit of confidence because week after week there is more disappointment."

lads - arsenal aren't a team of bitters, or bitter fans in my experience, they're an excellent club and they played fantastic football tonight but we won because so much of this game is about mentality and thats where we own them.

they had their heart broken tonight in a liverpool european classic, we'll worry about ourselves and forget their worries. what a game! hard luck arsenal - but you got beat tonight and face it.

don't know what to say about our performance. sometimes terrible sometimes amazing. one of benitez' and anfield's best nights tho.

what a club we have!

That Wenger interview made me laugh then. I can't remember the exact words but "you can't just blame the ref can you?" or something to similar effect, ha ha well done Gabriel you soft twat.

He should have asked "What happened to that Double you were talking about the other day"?  That would have been a good question!  Serves the over-confident fucker right.

Fucking superb night.  I even got to bounce in the Anny Road.  Qwality

Just watched the ITV highlights back at the hotel.  Fantastic goals and a sweetly struck pen.

Didn't get off to the best of starts.  Our giving the ball away so cheaply for periods of the game pissed me off.  There was a period in the second half when Arsenal really slowed the game right down and we seemed to lose momentum.  That  pissed me off too, but well in the lads for digging so deep tonight.

Fucking made up!

Get f--kin in there redmen and what a game that was unbelievable so it was especially after the first 25 where arsenal gave us a chasing. Then after that the real liverpool came out and performed but we certainly cant afford to keep giving the ball away which happened at times tonight.Great game, great night, bring on the Chelsea YNWA

Goes without saying tonight was class, hopefully we'll have three more succesful nights like this before the end of the season. Eleven heroes tonight.

Not seen/heard any of the post match comments but seen the debates about the alleged pen incidents. Fair enough it should have been one for them in the first leg. But you need to convert them - we/Stevie G did but would they converted one past Reina? Maybe but certainly not guarenteed.

Yes they play great football at times, but their 'time' tonight was only really for about 15 mins in the first half, and hours was for the rest of the game. The media do need to realise that there isn't just one brand or type of good football. Wenger is without doubt a class manager (and I really admire the way he manages to sign players which are all so technically gifted - Rafa could really learn from that) but there are different ways of playing 'good football' and maybe if he/his team recognised that then maybe they would be more successful this season.

Am right behind them on Sunday though......

O yes indeed.

I rather hoped, just after they scored their first and started up with "Where's your famous atmosphere?" that it was just the sort of arrogant gobshite chant that the fates like.  Because the fates enjoy nothing better than biding their time before leaping up and slapping comments like that very loudly back in your face, four times.

Word on the grapevine is that the ref, being from is mates with the fat thomas brolin .

Brolin used to play for the national team with martin dahlin.

Dahlin played for blackburn.

Blackburn won the league in the 90s for a time in the 90s.

During the 90s Chuck Norris`s Walkter Texas Ranger appearred which aparently , was about a texas ranger.

The texas rangers are owned by tom hicks.

Tom hicks ownes liverpool!.

Fuckin ell what a night, what a game!! So made up it's unbelieveable.

LFC has hooked another supporter tonight I think. Let my 5 y/o daughter stay up to watch with us and her 7 y/o brother. It's the first time she's watched a full match. She has now decided she loves Torres after his goal, made up her own song for him and bounced like crazy every time she heard his song on the telly. When Gerrard scored the pen she screamed louder than we did, sure the roof budged and went running up and down the stairs in joy! She has now gone to bed with her teddy, newly nicknamed Liverpool! lol

Yup another one hooked for an amazing ride on the LFC roller coaster.  :scarf

your daughter is so cute!!!!! :)
If I live to be a hundred and Liverpool bring in genius managers who win Quadruples and Quintuples for the club, I'll always point to Rafa as the one who meant the most to me.

Ok i apologize, but i was trying to get this message to  andy because he was stating liverpool were lucky, so i had to tell him, arsenal had bigger advantage with good players...

Ahh different discussion and one I will gladly have with you.

Arsenal are an oddity, Wenger seems brilliant at taking players who are no better than those at any teams and turning them into technical maestros. Seriously their close quarters passing and control puts them up their with any team. To be fair in terms of technical ability I rate them and Barcelona as the best in the world.

However they try too hard and don't have an alternative. I also think there is a cultural or mental issue there as well......simply put with their skill they should be better than they are.

We were the better team in my view over all three games, more determined, more resilient but yes less technical.

They play great football, I am just not convinced how effective it is over a season.

arsenal played better football...well let me see, it was actually unfair, how many black players do you have? Nearly the whole teams black. The reason i ask is, black players are  really skillfull, tall and fast, so yeh, it was more like liverpool playing brazil...arsenal not even a british club lol, dude, u knw it...

Wenger has to shut up and accept the lost. Tactically he lost. He played most of the team in the league game and that's why the players didn't have enough in the tank to get past us

I think tonights performance was another example that rotation works. Still won't stop Rafa getting stick about it though.

Arsenal played sublime football for 20-25 minutes and then ran out of steam and ideas. I don't think any of pur players looked tired at all, yet we worked the hardest all game.

I actually wanted arsenal to beat man u at the weekend, I doubt they'll manage that now after the three games they have played against us. I hope they win after a dubious penalty is given to them and see what arshole wanker has to say about that eh?

Overall we had the worst results out of the 3 games because rafa rotated and arsene didnt.

fuckin made up. get in!

had to celebrate in almost silence as my little lad was asleep next door but worth it all the same. also with the mrs being a gooner I was concious of overstepping the mark......

......so I went out in the garden where I heard a fellow red screaming 2 doors away and went and joined him for a few chants n songs.

what a fantastic game. had this been vs the scum or the rentboys I'd rinsed everyone I know of those persuasions but simply said 'well played' to the mrs and others. we came so close but we pulled through and what an inspired sub Babel. he reacted in the best possible way to being left out and with his pace and ability it was a masterstroke to bring him on against some very tired legs.

what more can be said about SG and FT that hasn't already been? Majestic when it mattered. Pete had a good game and never gave their backline a breather and Dirk worked his bollocks off for the cause yet again. he was tireless in his display. Mascher and Xabi were superb once we got a handle on the game. the back 4 all did so well bar the couple of lapses and its just a shame that Pepe has been looking a bit shaky of late but his celebration to Sami's equaliser was tops and shows how somewhat redeemed he felt. wasn't much he could do about adebayors goal. they had 3/4 on 1 after we failed to chop walcott down.

still, completely fuckin made up and could watch it all over again now but have to be up in a few hours for work. it'll sink in further in the morning and feel even better than it does now!

bring on the rentboys!!
Has Steven Gerrard scored a goal even more important than the one he got against Olympiakos - Is this the start of something BIG?
