Great, love it when he talks about Ian Tyson (didn't mention Sylvia though) and going to the lake and listening to "Four Strong Winds" over and over again.

Neil does an absolutely superb version of  "Imagine" on that 9/11 tribute disc.

We saw CSNY at the MGM in Las Vegas a year or so ago - only really went to see Neil and he did not disappoint.  One of the best live performers I've ever seen.

The legend was fantastic last night.  Magic concert.

From the opening notes of 'Love and only love' to the close with, believe it or not, 'A day in the life' he was on top form.

Very jealous of you Shaun.  Very.

Nice interview with him in the Sunday Times yesterday.   He has a new film opening soon documenting 2006's Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young "Freedom of Speech" tour in the US. It's apparently a warts and all portrayal which includes hundreds of audience members walking out of the Atlanta gig in disgust when they sang "Let's impeach the President".

Broke every string on 'Old Black' Kev...  he was really pumped.  A 20 minute version of 'Love..' and also 'Words'.  Sensational.

Ha ha... can't wait to see 'Freedom of Speech';  Was it to include 'Dick Cheney is overweight' and Rumsfeld is a murderer' I wonder?  ;D

Loved having Young play 10 minutes away from me (I'm a Malahide man) but cause of the final I didn't go. Could have just saw in the garden and listened for free too though :)

For me, was 'Like a Hurricane'.

But with a back catalogue of 30 + albums..... in 2 hours... its shit for brains.

I'd pay the cash just for 'Love and only love', 'Old man' and 'Powderfinger'.  Everything else was a bonus, n'est ce pas?  Fuck me.... to hear the leg do Spirit Road,  Words, Lonesome me, Hey hey, Unknown legend etc etc etc....  it was fucking amazing.    And an encore like that?  Ger, you're a very lucky fella.

I'm gonna go to either Berlin or Coburg in August... if you're keen.. send me a PM or text.

I'm sooo jealous too, sounds like some show, Neil, unlike some of his peers, seems to always deliver on stage, would have been great to hear Oh Lonesome Me, an underrated Young gem imho.

Tonight on the Werchter festival. What a man.
Asks 1 million euros for a gig as well. Keep on rocking in the free world!

Booked up travel for Berlin.  At Spandau.  Have done bugger all else for a week except play Neil Young albums... even now all in my head is 'Sugar mountain'.

So, never seen Berlin, or Spandau;  want to see the legend again, desperately.  Choice.. this, or Hicks' Liverpool.  Was easy in the end.  Even got 3 mates to go too, so doing a 2 night trip to see Shakey.

CANNOT FUCKING WAIT.

Even better!

Have sorted Neil Young in Berlin 19 August, then to Zurich on 20th... see Clapton that night, and Neil again in Zurich on 21st!  Then home.

If anyone I know is interested in all or part of this, PM me.

Dead cheap too  ;D

I can't list some stuff, i love almost everything the lads done. "Are You Passionate" is far from his best but he's got such a wonderful command of melody it's untrue. I can only dream of writing songs like our Neil. His greatest piece of advice I remember was just get pissed or stoned and let songs come to you. Happy days!

Flights and tickets all booked (although I'm not ruling out a detour via Rome and I have checked that there are cheap flights from Rome to Barca on Thursday morning ;) )

Staying, not sure at the moment, we have an apartment on the beach booked but it looks like there may be more of us...  but not yet enough to fill another apartment.  Holiday Inn Express is within walking distance of the site and is £64 a night for double room with additional sofa bed.  We went two years ago and stayed in central Barcelona and it wasn't a problem.  The Thursday night was tricky as you had to scrum to get busses back to Placa Catalunya but on Fri/Sat the metro system runs all night so it's not a problem getting back.

Dunno who is playing Sat apart from Neil, Sonic Youth and the Jayhawks but this is the full list confirmed so far:

A Certain Ratio  |  A-Trak  |  Alela Diane  |  Andrew Bird  |  Angelo Spencer  |  Aphex Twin  |  Ariel Pink  |  Art Brut  |  Bat For Lashes  |  Black Lips  |  Bloc Party  |  Bowerbirds  |  Carsick Cars  |  Chad VanGaalen  |  Crystal Antlers  |  Crystal Stilts  |  Cuzo  |  Damien Jurado  |  Dan Deacon Ensemble  |  Deerhunter  |  Dj Mehdi  |  Ebony Bones  |  El-P  |  Extra Life  |  Extraperlo  |  Fucked Up  |  Gang Gang Dance  |  Ghostface Killah  |  Girl Talk  |  Girls  |  Jarvis Cocker  |  Jason Lytle  |  Jay Reatard  |  Joe Crepúsculo y Los Destructores  |  Joe Henry  |  John Maus  |  Karl Blau  |  Kimya Dawson  |  Kitty, Daisy and Lewis  |  Lemonade  |  Lightning Bolt  |  Magik Markers  |  Magnolia Electric Co.  |  Mahjongg  |  Marnie Stern  |  Michael Mayer  |  Michael Nyman  |  My Bloody Valentine  |  Neil Young  |  Oneida  |  Phoenix  |  Plants & Animals  |  Ponytail  |  Rosvita  |  Shearwater  |  Shellac  |  Simian Mobile Disco  |  Skatebård  |  Sleepy Sun  |  Sonic Youth  |  Spectrum  |  Spiritualized  |  Squarepusher  |  Sunn O)))  |  The Bad Plus  |  The Bug  |  The Drones  |  The Extraordinaires  |  The Jayhawks  |  The Jesus Lizard  |  The Lions Constellation  |  The Mae Shi  |  The New Year  |  The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart  |  The Secret Society  |  The Soft Pack  |  The Tallest Man On Earth  |  The Vaselines  |  Throwing Muses  |  Uffie  |  Veracruz  |  Vivian Girls  |  Wavves  |  Women  |  Wooden Shjips  |  Yo La Tengo  |  Zombie Zombie  |  ...

Am i alone in thinking that Tonights The Night is one of the most achingly beautiful and honest albums ever recorded and that his cracked out of tune vocals on "Mellow My Mind" is one of the most touching vocal performances ever, few artists would have the balls to leave such a nakedly honest performance on record.

He has now announced as headliner for Isle of Wight.

Some amazing posts on their forums by people not knowing who he is, etc. It is actually laughable.
