Still a few times he sticks a leg and misses completely - but such is the life of a DM I suppose.

He's added a lot of steel to the midfield since he's become a starter. And now we are really starting to appreciate his passing. Soon we will see some rockets from midfield as teams drop off because they think he is going to try a clever pass to an attacker.

And I think it was last season away to Arsenal where he started and looked lost.

It's almost like having Macherano again.

How does he compare with Sergio Busquets?

Vinay cause of his size and ability to dominate defensively I see him a lot like Viera also.

He's a bit world class. Scary thing is he'd be our best midfielder going forward too if he wasn't the DM.

Amazingly Fabinho cannot even get into the Brazil national team in the DM position - not that we are complaining at him being spared from being worn out by international games while Fernandinho and Rodri are hopefully played flat out by their respectiv enational teams.

Hopefully he continues to be overlooked. I think though that Fernandinho does give City more in terms of attacking than Fabinho.

Unreal game from him. Just the calmness when we are playing at the speed of light is amazing. Great cover, and amazing recovery tackles. But, his passing is mesmerising in tough, tight spots. That pass to Salah for the third goal was amazing.

His adaptation into our play was the main reason we stepped up in the middle of 2018/2019 season.

We now have a no.6 who could do proper defensive work without losing any bite in our attacking play.

Hamann, Momo, Mascherano, Lucas who played in the same role never had the overall attributes.

We were excellent from start to finish last year. I’m not sure he can be credited with stepping up our play when we won our first 6 games and he didn’t play a single minute.

And maybe I’m crazy, but I think he’s actually better with the ball than without it  :-X

Why Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp chose Fabinho over Lucas Torreira and Jorginho transfers

Liverpool chose to sign Fabinho instead of Arsenal and Chelsea players Lucas Torreira and Jorginho because of his physical prowess, according to reports.

The Brazil international impressed for the Reds in their 3-1 win over the Gunners on Saturday, starring alongside Georginio Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson in the middle of the park.

And The Athletic say Liverpool chose to sign Fabinho over Torreira and Jorginho because of his physicality.

The Reds had been eyeing the player in 2013 but, at the time, he was spending much of his time at right-back.

Instead, Liverpool chose to make their move last summer.

Fabinho initially struggled to adjust to life in England having previously been used to the slower pace of football with Monaco in Ligue 1.

But the Brazilian has now kicked on to become one of the first names on Klopp’s team-sheet.

Jorginho, meanwhile, is beginning to kick on for Chelsea.

The Italy international struggled under Maurizio Sarri last term but shone as Frank Lampard’s side beat Norwich 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.

Fabinho, VVD and Alisson are the three players that have taken this team to a new level. Each of them is important but Fabinho is the last to get the recognition. No problem, if he keeps playing the same way everyone will appreciate him soon enough.

It's almost like having Macherano again.
He lacks Mascherano's pace and I think the Argentine was a fractionally more effective tackler but by way of compensation Fabinho has shades of Sissoko's monstrous physicality, whilst being miles better in the air than Mascherano and miles better in the ball than Sissoko ever was. If he did have a touch more pace he'd be a potential greatest of all time, but he's one of the very best there is in that position, no doubt at all.
He is the cat who walks by himself, and all roads are alike to him.

I think its because in the high profile games in the last 2 seasons, Klopp has gone with Milner, Gini and Hendo. That began to change last season as we saw Fabinho play big roles, particularly in the Champions League. We have to remember that last season was his first full season in the league, and he'd come from Monaco and the Ligue 1 which is a good league but much less intense. I think this season, if he can stay fit, he will be an absolute monster for us. He has very good judgement, gets amongst the dark arts and actually has very underrated ability on the ball. Him staying in good form is pivotal to our success as it will allow us to field slightly more attack minded players (e.g. Naby, Ox or Lallana) in midfield, and give Gini and Hendo a bit more license to get further up the pitch and deploy our pressing game there without losing anything in terms of distribution, being able to hold onto the ball.

He is very good but its funny because he is more highly rated by opposition fans than we rate him, which is never normally the case.

Not sure I agree with your conclusion but can only assume he finally popped up on the radar of other fans during the Barcelona semi, where he almost literally played as a one man midfield, and still dominated theirs

I also disagree. Most run of the mill supporters still look at our squad with disdain apart from Salah and VVD - then at a push Mane and Alisson. And VVD and Alisson half of them just say that for as expensive as they are, they better be good.
