Thought his delivery/ passing was a bit off this evening and then he goes and does that… what a player.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is the first player to create 100+ chances in the Premier League in 2021.

I watched the game life and missed Trent's goal. Then I watched the replay and I missed it again. Only when I slowed down the speed to 1/10th I saw it... ;D

What a fucking bullet! And the ref was used well as a cover. ;)

Like I said in the other thread, they brought The Mighty Willock on to score an injury time equaliser, like last season, or at least to mess with our heads a bit at the thought of that. Trent scored a millisecond later and that plan was deader than shellsuits.

I was thinking John, when the net was still rippling, how perfectly he must have struck that ball. Extra nerves, or perhaps even taste buds, in the man's feet? How else do you explain the fidelity with which he routinely makes contact with the ball.

People are mentioning Thiago's reaction to the shot, which indeed was delightful. When you get a connoisseur stroking his chin like that, you know something's afoot. As it were.

Sweet as it were Yorky, sweet as it were.

Trent is gifted way beyond most professional footballers capabilities. But as you say, when it comes to striking a ball. World class.

Reminded me of Fabinho against City in our title winning season. Just an absolute pure hit. Usually when a player hits a moving ball they usually impart some form of spin. In the way a tennis player invariably plays a shot with top spin, slice or side spin.

When they get their opponent out of position they move in and hit the ball flat. That is what Trent did tonight. He hit the ball as pure as you could possibly ask for.

Just watched a replay from behind the ball strike. The more a ball rotates in the air. Then the more surface friction it creates and the greater the velocity decreases.

Trent's shot had no side spin at all. It had an incredibly small amount of backspin which caused the ball to deviate less than half a rotation.

Watch the goal and have a look at the pattern on the ball for reference. It is almost the perfect strike.

Arie Haan, Johhny Metgod eat your heart out.

It was 07/08, the weekend after England had lost at home in on Croatia to not qualify for the Euros. The Geordies started booing him but soon gave up on that and turned their sights on Fat Sam instead.

Wow. Just, wow.

When I was watching it in real-time I wasn't keeping up with play for some reason. Maybe there was a slight lull in action, I dunno.
But the next thing I captured was the net being ripped off! I actually didn't think it had gone in from pitchside - I thought the net had moved like that due to the ball going the wrong side of the post, hitting the ad boards and then whacking the Kop side of the net.
It was that violent and mental.

I only believed it when Trent wheeled away and the comms went crazy.

If that wins goal of the season no one will complain. Apart from maybe are Mo  :)

Love Trent.

When you watch it in slow motion you wonder what that fucking plank was doing running where he did….genuinely think he tried to get in the way deliberately. If that hit him on the head on the way through it would have been sweet justice but the goal was outstanding.

As someone mentioned John Metgod …. this reminds me of his free kick against West Ham, just better!
