It's averaging near 2.5 a game. Somehow.

Apparently the lowest average per game was in 1990, which was 2.21 per game, after todays 3, the average must be getting down towards it now.

Just worked it out it's now down to 2.25 per game.

Really? I must say I don't watch the world cup for goals. Who gives a shit if a big nation twats a small one 6-0 to bring the average up? I think it's brilliant that countries like Iran come we'll drilled, with a game plan and are a whisker away from maybe even knocking Spain out. World Cup for me is all about the narratives of underdog nations beating the odds to create a decent run. We all know there won't be any surprises in the end, I find it much more fun when there are surprises on the way, too.

Own goal is top scorer.

Then it’s all pens and set pieces. We should work this to our advantage.

I did various pre-tournament bets and most not going well, did a 5-timer for group winners, Colombia messed that up.

Also did similar bets on qualifiers and teams to finish last, just Egypt wrecking that one.

As for Overall Winners, i doubt anyone who's backed one of the fancied teams has much reason to get overly optimistic so far.

If i had to back anyone right now it would be Belgium.

Ronaldo
Suarez
Cavani
Costa

AGS 10/1

Unlikely they all score but decent enough odds given the opposition.

Been that sort of world cup, time to quit while you're behind I think.

Mate, you are spot on and for that reason I'm out of the world cup betting now.

Because of hefty bets, I've found myself cheering on both Ronaldo and Costa today and been mighty pissed off when they didn't score a second goal.  If I hadn't had a bet I would have been firmly behind Morocco and Iran to get something out of their games.

If i had won these bets I may feel different but the reality is i am taking away the actual footballing aspect of enjoyment from the games I'm watching.

The World Cup 'stories' are great I agree and i remember as far back as 1982 (before gambling) loving the likes of Algeria upsetting Germany etc.

Anyhow, just my personal opinion and good luck to you lads for the rest of the tourney and hope you win some nice ££££

Damn, rewatched the Iran-Spain game, and the Iranian goal should have stood. The #6 (don't know the name) who scored, was not offside at the time of the shot. With all this VAR in place how was that not picked up?!

He was offside when the ball was flicked on to him which is what counts, it's irrelevent if he's offside when taking the shot, was correct desision.

I've not put a penny on the result of any match so far at the World Cup, reckon it's saved me a fortune. Stuck to corners mainly, and doing OK from this tactic, it's a good way of staying neutral too, loving every single minute of it.

weird one im thinking of is paddy power have a market for each of the first four minutes

a throw in is usually evens, do that for each of the first few you might make money

mind you if there is a goal or a penalty or injury the delay will kill your bet

Which bookies does the throw-in bets? I thought most stopped doing them after the betting scam of players doing it on purpose.

I see Messi at having Over 1.5 shots on target as free money today....1.57 only, but lumped on that.

Trying not to bet too much to ruin the footballing aspect of games is essential i think. Which is why i never bet on Liverpool. too emotional as it is!  ;D

They're the best part of 3/1 on bet365.

8/11 on the double chance seems very good.

I'm on Messi/Griezmann/Eriksen AGS at 18/1 in Hills.

I decided yesterdays Ronaldo, Suarez, Costa was too obvious and wouldn't happen then decided to do them to score first half at 33/1, Cheers Costa  :no

Denmark / France / Argentina - 13/2 Skybet

Eriksen / Mbappe / Messi anytime 17/1 Skybet

Denmark seem decent odds at Evens, and surely Argentina have to play better than the first game!

Goalscorers bets explain themselves, all obviously capable of a goal

Thank god i had a 9/2 winner on the horses, cos still losing most matches in the WC. I keep telling myself to give up on the footie, but i never learn.
