Million Dollar Baby - Female Lead

If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Mad Max Fury Road - In Black and Chrome (Monochrome pick, post-apocalyptic /western)

Quote
“The best version of this movie is black and white, but people reserve that for art movies now.” - George Miller, Director

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/v/eNykS4VlnwE" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="bbc_link bbc_flash_disabled new_win">https://www.youtube.com/v/eNykS4VlnwE</a>

https://www.theguardian.com/film/2016/nov/12/mad-max-fury-road-black-white

It is how the director originally envisioned the film, it is even better than the colour version, and it is perfect for a home movie marathon as it was only released in the black and chrome for home viewing.

It's dark. It's late. It's time for a little horror.

My next choice is: John Carpenter's The Thing

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/v/p35JDJLa9ec" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="bbc_link bbc_flash_disabled new_win">https://www.youtube.com/v/p35JDJLa9ec</a>

Initially shunned on its release (being up against cutesy, friendly alien ET), it has become an icon in horror films. An amazing ensemble piece, the tnesion and fear grows throughout the film. The isolation of the team and desolation of the environment as hostile as the alien. Also, the poster boy for practical visual effects that still stand up to this day.

My favourite horror film: The Thing

Paris Texas

The film that marked Wim Wenders' arrival as a director of note. Paris Texas looks incredible, Ry Cooder's score is one of cinema's greatest, and there are terrific performances by Harry Dean Stanton, Natassja Kinski and Dean Stockwell. And that monologue Stanton delivers in the middle ("I knew these people...") is dynamite.

Animated: Mononoke Hime/Princess Mononoke

Subtitled version, obviously. I don't know if this my favourite Miyazaki film but it's the one I think of as his peak work, an action-packed, emotionally rich study of the battle between industrialisation and nature.

A young samurai turns up at an industrial village called Irontown seeking a cure for the demonic curse that's infected his arm, but finds that the town, which is run by women, is in conflict with the forest deities that view them, rightly, as encroaching predators out to destroy them. A human girl and her pack of huge wolves periodically launch raids on Irontown, and though the samurai tries to make some kind of piece, the whole thing ends in a Game of Thrones-level battle between the forest deities and the town. Also, there's a good deal of death, blood and some dismembered limbs.

An American Werewolf in London

One of the films that had the biggest impact on me as a kid. Come to think of it, why did my Dad let me watch this  :D  I dreamt of Nazi werewolves for days afterwards. Not sure I'll ever get over that scene. Seeing The Thing getting picked made me yearn for some horror of my own. This one strikes a perfect balance between morbidly funny and scary as fuck. Plus, it contains probably the greatest transformation scenes in movie history. Oh and Jenny Agutter  :-*
