Is Temple Bar one specific pub or just an area? I think I went there but it was just me and the missus and about 1pm on a Thursday so fairly quiet. Just went to sample the Guinness and yes, I know there are probably loads of better places to do that but we happened to walk past and there it was.

So I didn't hate it, although it wasn't particularly memorable!

I take it as the area with the Temple Bar (It has several bars inside) but usually is full of British, is unfriendly, loud, the ale is utter, utter shite and I hate it.

Been to Dublin 9 times and got dragged in there by my local mates that live there.

Much prefer proper pubs a bit out from the River.

Incidentally, if it's ale you're after, stay in England!

If you're from Liverpool as you claim then everyone I know in Liverpool calls any type of beer 'Ale'.

I'm not. I was living in Aigburth when I registered.

There you go then.

'Ale' means any kind of beer in any form.

:)

Ah!

You see, being an ale drinker, the fact that the only actual ale you can get in pubs over here tastes like slightly stale water really makes me miss England.

Who mentioned Croke Park, thread is about Dublin i.e. home of the All Ireland Champions
I know, you just seem like the type who would think that.
Simple statement of fact. Parnell Park is Dublin's home ground. Croke Park isn't. Dublin seem to think it is though, if their reaction to Mayo warming up in front of the Hill before the quarter final in 2007 is anything to go by.
One of the more annoying traits of our cousins in the capital.

Any recommended vintage stores ?

Wanna get a bday present for a friend and she is obsessed with vintage material, would be nice to see what Dublin has to offer in that sense.
There is a collection of vintage jewellery shops on Clarendon st, and in the Powerscourt townhouse across the road from it..

Yes, its not bad actually.

As for Temple Bar, i went and quite liked it to be honest, like Mathew Street really.

Oh and the leprechaun museum. Seriously. Didn't actually go but seen loads of signs to it, apparently its really good!
It's awfully considerate of you to think of me here/ and i'm most obliged to you for making it clear/ that i'm not here

Well you say that now. Not necessarily I remember Mark Vaughan once thought Paul Flynn (Waterford hurler) played for the Wexford footballers.

A donnybrook...

But greatest city in Europe?

Sorry but that's unlikely, but I suppose it can depend on what you're looking for.

Having been to Dublin countless times over the years, personally I'd rank Liverpool ahead of Dublin in any list and certainly Edinburgh, together with places like London, Paris, Brussels, Prague, Amsterdam, Copenhagen and even Istanbul would all be higher up, and probably Oslo as well despite beer being prohibitively expensive.

Disappointingly, outside of a few bars, in my own experience, Dublin is just not what it's been cracked up to be.

But each to their own.
I don't do polite so fuck yoursalf with your stupid accusations...

Right you fuckwit I will show you why you are talking out of your fat arse...

I'm about 15 miles south of Dublin and we're currently experiencing torrential drizzle and temperatures of about 8 degrees.

It's been like this since about 1840, although the temperature does drop occasionally.
