The best live performer you could ever see. The best night of my life (apart from my wedding day and the birth of my son, I'm contractually obliged to say that) was an after show party me and a load of mates saw him in a little club inside the O2 in 2007, he played until 4 in the morning.

Rest in peace little man.

Feeling very emotional here. One of my heroes.

Someone on Radio 4 was talking about how many celebrity deaths there have been this year, and that was before the news of Victoria Wood and Prince. As people have been saying, awful news and no age to go. His concert film is up there with Stop Making sense amongst the mainstream concert films.

I saw the hash tag on Twitter, and thought that it meant Prince Philip. Terrible loss, he's less than ten years older than me. Fuck that. It's the calibre of talent that has exited the building this year that is so astonishing, absolute top drawer performers who I have grown up with.

Most underrated guitarist on the planet for sure a Virtuoso. It's like he possessed too much talent in other areas that his playing slip by without getting the true recognition it deserved.

It's like the very top echelon in their respective fields, the gamechangers and the giants. It's not a bunch of also-ran, semi-famous names is it, it's the cream of past eras... but not so long past as to feel normal and expected. Is this unprecedented, has there ever been a similarly spooky year of notable deaths, that didn't involve casualties of war or a specific disease epidemic?

Pretty sure recently he signed off they were to be destroyed after his death. Apparently 100's upon 100's of unrealesed songs and music videos and a few movies as well. Was hoping he might soften on that with age...

I seen him play live a couple of years ago in Gothenburg, Sweden when I was there on business (Nudie Jeans).

Boy, could he play that guitar.

What a performer, he was exceptional.
