I can.

Last great album he dropped was The Eminem Show.

Mad when you consider he released the SSLP, MMLP and TES all within 3 years (plus 8 mile soundtrack in 2002) and this is his first album dropped in 4 years and it's this bad.

He was on fire during that time period of those albums, top 5 MC material.

He’s in my top 20 these days.

Just gone back to listen to relapse and it's so refreshing. Even though I didn't like it at the time that much. It's just another example of how much worse he's got that I actually appreciate this album now.

I’m the same, I feel Relapse has gotten better with time. The production on that album was great and minus the stupid accent Em was spitting.

He needs to surround himself with Slaughterhouse, Dre, Conway and Westside Gunn and Mr Porter for his next album.

Get some real MCs around him so he has to step his game up.

Agreed. I haven't been able to listen to anything of his in many years. Takes himself so seriously in his songs, when the jovial/playful style of MMLP/SSLP suited him far better. So much angry, shouty rapping, trying to cram clever lyrics in so he can be a genius "rapper" rather than letting the flow of the song do the work. I guess his style has just been edgy pop-rap for a long time rather than his hip-hop style of Invincible/MMLP.

Conway dropping this heater tomorrow called G.O.A.T. (Grimiest of All Time). Really hoping this comes out as good as it looks. Daringer is my guy! Sorry, stealing it from Instagram and thats the biggest I could make it by RAWK standards.

So...the album of the year thread got me thinking - what's everyone's favourite hip hop album(s) of 2017?

I reckon there's been a fair few rap LPs I've really enjoyed this year, but nothing that's really knocked me for six. AOTY lists I've seen in various sources have been acclaiming Damn and Big Fish Theory to the expected heights and, while there are some tracks off both I love (Humble and Crabs in the Bucket would probably make a list of my favourite tracks of the year, and there's others too) neither really came together as a cohesive whole for me, though if pushed, I'd say I liked both but probably preferred Staples' offering.

I've enjoyed releases by RTJ (the RAWK powers that be have decreed this a 2017 album, even though I distinctly recall listening to it back end of last year...), Jay-Z, Action Bronson, Big Krit, Your Old Droog, Oddisee, Freddie Gibbs, Brother Ali and others, but I think Loyle Carner's got my vote this year (though I reserve the right to change my mind) - the kid's really got something. I'm aware that Drake and Migos released LPs this year too and the current generation of music critics love them, but they can fuck off as far as I'm concerned.

So...what's everyone been bumping? What have I missed? Always love this thread and those who keep it going (you know who you are), it's sort of renewed my love of hip hop recently and I can't thank yous all enough for that.

They dropped 3 albums last year and have a new one coming this year.

They aren’t my usual cup of tea but I enjoy them. They label themselves as a boyband not a rap group too which I find hilarious. They came together through KanyeToThe.com and now all live together it’s a weird setup haha.

This album is, actually, quite good. He moved away from the trap beats and is on more of a New York grimey tip. Ive always had a bit of an issue with him being quite monotone...kind of like Banks. He improves on that a bit. Either way, at least 6 clear bangers on there for a playlist.

Unfortunately that's been the case for the past three or four albums now. Basically adds a few tracks post release that are usually better than anything on the actual albums.

I never ever listen to the radio so I don't even know what the new songs are. I just see pictures of them online and laugh.
