Yeah not great for their goal but the real culprit there was Allison.

Ake picked the ball up 50-yards from goal, not like it was a gift from that distance. There was still plenty of opportunities to prevent the goal with basic defending.

What I've been amazed by is what a clean match it's been.  Really fun to watch two excellent teams competing hard without the refs having to make themselves the star of the show.  I can't think of any really glaringly bad calls going either way.

Such a shame to let Ake of all people get between two defenders and that's been the difference.  They look dangerous at times; we look dangerous at times.  Fine margins. 

Mo has been a liability sadly.  Jota also looks well off the pace, but then that's when he usually can be counted on for a goal too. 

Dom and Mac I think have been really excellent.  Matip and VVD too. 

No reason we can't get some points here. 

And Joel FUCKIN Matip danced through half their team at one point but we didn’t do the finishing bit as well.

Id be interested to see what speed he clocked on their counter that Alvarez put out across the goal. Think that may be his personal best this season.

Ali's kick was poor but Ake getting through two tackles was poor. Great finish from Haaland, but even then Ali is unlucky not to save.

Nunez gets the ball out of his feet and he could have done the same. I also think his trying to play Salah in sometimes when he should just drive to goal.
With a bit more luck edison clawing the ball back could have landed a Jota's feet.

Doku looks very dangerous, very hard to play against.
It feels like they are playing quite defensively and can now sit back at bit so we need to make sure we keep playing and not trying to overstretch as when we leave space they could be in.

Also ball seems to run really slow, have they left the grass long again?

Yeah Alvarez was a nailed on yellow and one of ours will do it first in second half as we are losing and our lad will get booked for it.

Yes that was poor refereeing. It was a clear yellow as we were attacking. Also annoying that the referee blew for halftime when we were attacking.

Gravenberch and Diaz could really change this game in our favour.

I wanted Jones to start but he’s been pretty poor on ball, held onto it for too long or picking wrong pass.

It's a shit kick but its not like the Foden one, they shouldn't be scoring from a sliced kick that went to the halfway line, we had multiple chances to stop them after that kick. The reason I mention Trent is because this happens every game, exceptional on the ball but just doesn't defend.

The fact that Ake was allowed to skip past 2 players is the difference along with Haaland being deadly.

Was given as a foul on Walker. Softest of free kicks.

Then a minute later they got another soft one when one of their midfielders was fairly shoulder charged off the ball.

They're a great team and can pass it around like the ball is stuck to them (albeit they've been assembled against the laws of the game) but i've been impressed with us in the first half as we're normally slow starters. Most people stuck to their roles pretty well. We're a few raw/better players away from putting in a much better showing against them (Darwin, Tsmikas, Jones and TAA).

Still expect to lose against the cheating machine that they are but encouraging effort from the lads.

The ref is going about his business quietly. Been a few shoves on our players, Akanji on Salah and Walker on Jota, which he has deemed ok. But Jota makes a fair challenge for the ball and gives away a free kick.
You can rest assured any big decisions are going their way.

Agree with this. Rodri or Silva have snuffed out the chances where we've stuttered around the box, whereas the difference with Haaland was touch, turn, shoot.

that was a 100% yellow, but city know they wont get booked for breaking up counter attacks like that. we should be doing it alot more.
