I'm in favour of moving Brendan on given his performance over the entire 3 years however i'm fine with him staying IF the owners truly believe he is the right man and can take us forward. The need to make it clear he has their full support. We can't start next year with our manager still under immense pressure. What absolutely can't happen is the club stick with Rodgers despite having serious concerns then sack him in October after a poor start when we've already brought him a load of players and all the other decent managers are no longer available.

I agree. Albeit prematurely.

Still think special consideration has to be given to this game. Yes it could be a black swan event - well irrespective of the rest of the season it IS an exceptional game, but it is at the very least an excuse to seriously x-ray what is going on  - possibly shake up the management structure. Never let a good disaster  go to waste and all that.

And I think Rodgers would be one too many managers sacked for coming second...

8 points out of the last 27 on offer. Knocked out of the cup by a piss poor villa. Hammered by Stoke. Fucking Stoke.

He's gone I hope.

Beaten by Hull - relegated. Knocked out the FA Cup by Villa - who finished 4th bottom. Twatted by Palace & Stoke teams with nothing to play for. Indeed, Palace could have matched Stoke's goal total last week. I'm not sure we've performed as poorly under Hodgson as we have these past few weeks, since the United defeat. We've beaten John fucking Carver's Newcastle and a 10-men, soon to be relegated, QPR by a single goal during that period. I won't mention the thrashing at Arsenal because they're a far, far better side. By any standards, that is a piss poor run of form. Something is badly wrong.

Until a few weeks ago I thought Rodgers would stay. Looking at all the results since the United home defeat, it's hard to make a case for him staying.

Indeed mate. Some people has short memories. Under Rafa we were number 1 in Europe and a team everyone feared and Rafa had to put up with Hicks and Gillett.
And Parry. And a couple senior players who weren't 100% on board.

Seriously just get Rafa back. Our dark period began the day we sacked him, and we've not been at the same level since. Just bring him back now. If there's one manager in the world that Liverpool can persuade over Real Madrid, it's Rafa Benitez.
It wouldn't be Liverpool if we didn't do it the hard way... ask Gareth Southgate.

9-2 on aggregate. Fucking hell.

I hate this shit.

It wasn't a Gerrard goodbyhe two-legged semi final. We lost two games, yeah. Adding up the scores like a child goes

'Well United won 1-0 against Leeds and we beat leeds 3-1 so we'll beat United 3-2'

It's meaningless crybaby bollocks.

We lost two games. Badly.

Still doesn't make it an aggregate scoreline FFS.

Liverpool 1 Manure 2
Arsenal 4 Lpool 1
Blackburn 0 Lpool 1
Lpool 2 Newcastle 1
Villa 2 Lpool 1
WBA 0 Lpool 0
Hull 1 Lpool 0
Lpool 2 QPR 1
Chelsea 1 Lpool 1
Lpool 1 Palace 3
Stoke 6 Lpool 1

Grim, thank god we had games at home against QPR and Newcastle in that schedule.

I said after we lost at Villa that we had 6 games to show our character, we failed. 5 wins would have secured CL football, there was something to play for.

But at the same time, it's easier to change the manager than to change the whole squad. it should be the managers job to make sure most of the players are on side with him and want to run through a brick wall for him. We just haven't been seeing since we lost to Arsenal. I would no be surprised at all if he has alienated many of the players with his favouritism.

You don't get rid of the whole squad. Just a few to make a message.

Honestly, I don't think it's about them purposely not trying but that some players are just not that good and some others just had shockers. I don't think Kolo is good enough. Neither is Lambert. Moreno should be on the bench. Allen the same. Henderson is a good midfielder - I was laughed at suggesting Herrera is better - but he will never be a leader on the pitch in terms of dictating the play (he'll be a leader in terms of effort) and it's debatable if he'd start so many games in another top 4 midfield.

IMO there needs to be a slight culling. There are too many players at the club who clearly aren't needed and that kind of atmosphere, where they're just biding their time, doesn't instill the kind of competition other players feed off to play better to keep their positions.

Rodgers DESERVES another season. I just hope that if it happens our fanbase just shut up and support him instead of waiting for a setback to pounce on. I think even with buys like Benteke, Milner and Ings...we'll get top 4 with Rodgers.
