Thought he was key today. The Joel raid and carry into the opposition area is a thing we need to see more of. Some wayward passing at times, but solid in the main I thought. Him and the Greek possibly our two best players today.

Thought exactly the same J. He was the only one breaking the lines and trying anything of note. Majority of players were static with the ball whereas City were constantly moving when they had it or not. Its like we froze cos of nerves etc. Think we played good at a hard place to play but first half for the first 20 or so our movement felt non existent in possession and our passing was off.

Great result though. Felt like a European away

I was thinking with the inverted fullback system we are playing with Trent what about Joel playing the John Stones role?. He seems very assured in possession and Joe gomez can play as the RB that stays in the back 3 when in possession. Obviously Trent is first choice but I worry when he is out injured or we risk over playing him.

Hopefully, no serious injury for Matip. He had a few shaky passes today well before he went off, I wonder if he was carrying something from early in the game.

If he was he should have been off earlier on. It's not worth carrying injuries especially for a player whose had a few.

Joyce tweeted that Klopp said it's a long-term injury. :( Injuries starting to rack up now at the wrong time.

Annoying as it fucks the rotation options for the cups etc and the more Konate has to play the more likely he'll get injured too. Frustrating but we knew this would happen anyway, surprised it took this long.

Not ideal this, but could end up being the making of Quansah.

Think we'll be o.k with Quansah, Konate, and VVD for now, but will probably need to look to bring someone in, in January if we haven't been already.

Played today but I think Quansah should be ahead of him for CB, doesn't make sense to hold him back.

I don't think that's true. Gomez would be ahead of Quansah, I thknk, but they will share the minutes. Gomez could move in the Trent role too.

You can't play a young player every week though he'll get injured then. There needs to be some rotation between the defenders.

Yes, if Trent goes into midfield Gomez will more than likely fill in at right back.

Shame, he's in a good run of form and has managed to stay relatively fit for a while up until now.

It's nice that we have Bradley returning now though, hopefully that frees Gomez up a bit to fill in centrally.

I thought it looked like just a clash of knees.  Possibly nothing more in it than some severe pain and precautionary move by JK and nothing injured at all.

Thought it was when he landed on the astra grass when he did it ?

If Klopp is saying its not a short one it wont be but its a vague comment so I guess 2 months is best case going by the boss.

Bollocks. How did he do it? Let’s hope it’s not ‘too’ bad but Klopp’s comments don’t sound too promising. Also unfortunate timing when it looked like Gomez might get a little run at right back with Trent in the middle possibly.

Presumably knee ligaments going from Klopp's comments. That can range from maybe a month or two to the rest of the season depending on the ligament and the severity of it.

He's had one previous knee injury for us which kept him out for nearly 3 months.

Klopp didnt say it was a long one as such but you never know with his comments sometimes. I think he said simular for Jota and Gakpo even earlier in the season.

Hopefully back early next year which I would deffo take right now.
