Very strange but i like it. Watched a few episodes from the first series when Chan 4 was first showing it.

I wouldn't say it keeps you laughing all the way through but theres moments where i can't help but burst out

Theres me thinking it was on at 10, i've gone and missed it. Wish i'd seen this thread sooner

Wing fails to fly

Disappointing ratings for C4 comedy

The return of Green Wing has proved a ratings disappointment for Channel 4, with the first episode attracting just 1.8 million viewers.

The show had been promoted heavily, with billboard advertising and a repeat of the entire first series to whet the audience appetite.

But Friday’s 70-minute show attracted just eight per cent of the viewers from 9pm - fewer than the repeat of a BBC Two documentary about Pompeii.

And it means the second series had a weaker debut than the first; which was seen by 2.2million people when it launched in September 2004.

However, Green Wing did appear to give a ratings boost to My Name Is Earl, which immediately followed it. The US import saw its audience rise 500,000 in a week, up to 1.6 million, according to the unofficial overnight figures.

No plot details are known, though it is expected to tie-up any remaining plot threads as it is believed there are currently no plans for a third series. A BBC documentary, "Imagine" - A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Studio, showed a behind the scenes look of a scene where a few of the main characters (Caroline, Guy, Martin, Boyce, and Sue covered in black and holding an umbrella) are attending a funeral (characters Mac, Alan Statham, and Joanna Clore can't be seen at the service), which appears in this episode. It seems likely that it is Mac, seeing as he was supposedly told he was dying at the end of the previous episode, although other sources claim that it is Angela due to the fact that no one seems very upset at the death and the British sit-com newsletter let the cat out of the bag. Other possibilities include Alan, Joanna and Karen. There is also a wedding at the hospital.

There were some very brief ads this week on one of the satellite channels- Secretan and Mac driving in a convertible together. No logo, no caption, no voiceover. Just the pair of them. Anyone know what that's about?

Green Wing stars Julian Rhind-Tutt and Stephen Mangan are to front a new advertising campaign for Barclaycard.

They replace Jennifer Saunders in the commercials, and follow in the footsteps of Rowan Atkinson, Alan Whicker and Jennifer Aniston.

The will play two friends driving across America, living out of a car. Mangan’s character is hapless, while Rhind-Tutt is the sensible one, always ready with his credit card.

The ads first will debut on ITV1 on Monday, after Life Begins.

The 40 and 60-second TV slots will be backed by a print advertising campaign.

Barclaycard’s Gary Twelvetree said: ‘We are delighted that Rhind-Tutt and Mangan are the new faces of our latest advertising campaign.

‘For this campaign we wanted a comic duo who would communicate the benefits of the Barclaycard Flexi-Rate card in a fun and visual way. The actors’ on-screen chemistry fitted the creative perfectly.’
