So you all believe his word is gospel..........ok then, I certainly don't.
I do. At least about the way he feels about us. If it was all PR, we'd have seen this story much sooner, perhaps leaked before his move. He has no reason to suck up to us now, not years and years after. And even if you think this is to get on the Liverpool Legends gravy train, there is no reason for him to keep stressing Atletico is where he belongs. (Besides, if Owen can leech off us as a Liverpool "legend", why would anyone need to say so much in such detail other than a few polite words about the current team?)
Also Suarez took it up another level after he left us, Nando on the other hand...yeah.
In any case, Suarez can perform anywhere - he performs for himself. He also plays for love, for his wife and family. As long as those things are in order he doesn't need a special connection or whatever in order to perform.
Torres is a much more sensitive soul, and needs the environment and his emotions sorted in order to perform. This is why he exploded when he came to us. Freed from the responsibility, pressure and guilt that comes with being captain of Atletico, he was freed from the shackles that kept his goal return so low. In other words he is a broken genius, more Juan Roman Riquelme than Zidane, whereas Suarez is... Wolverine without the internal moral dialogue. I still believe the need to feel right in order to perform is the main reason for his failure at Chelsea.
Still, a peak Suarez beats a peak Torres for me. He is a cage fighter, a wild beast. And he has a mutant X gene that helps him heal at twice the speed if anyone can even injure him in the first place. Just don't expect him to sacrifice anything beyond the pitch for the club or its fans.
